It does not appear that Hitachi is providing any support for their CD-ROM drives; you will have to make a choice to download your driver from one of the many available services. Some are free but may require you to download their driver scanner. You might consider these sources:
the driver of that device was corrupt. the driver of cd/dvd rom is built in operating system. your first step is to open device manage then right click my computer then click properties then click device manager tab then double click the cd/dvd rom drives then right click the dvd device and click update update driver software and follow screen instruction.
There would be nothing wrong with the DVD-ROM, your PC is trying to open a prog that is not compatable. Are there no other clues as to what it may be??
It just might be a problem with the laser carriage motor that moves the laser assy back and forth to read from the inner portion of the disc to the outer portion. If it can't move from the reference position, it won't read anything more than the initial data on any disc. Hope this helps. Good luck!
When it comes to installing a new driver you have to make sure is supported by your PC, that said it may be that you need an installation CD, if the driver does not come whit one try to download it from the website of the manufacturer. another solution can be that your driver may be conflicting with another driver, this means that your problem driver needs to be a master or slave check on the installation manual that came with the driver.
