Ground the emergency brake wire,i used the black wire.

Insert an original DVD and let it play until you hear the sound.Copied DVDs will not work for this.

Press the STOP button TWICE with the remote.

Using the remote enter 26604 and press enter. If done you shoul hear it beep and the video will be viewable.

How can i bypass my e brake so i can whatch dvd

The e-brake wire is there for liability reasons. If you're in an accident and there is a video playing, you will probably be liable. Also, it is illegal almost everywhere to have a video playing that can be viewed by the driver. This could get you pulled over and fined. This is why the brake wire is there, so the player knows the vehicle is not moving.

The parking brake on my xdvd8182 doesn't work, im thinking a broken wire. Ive tried the codes, grounding with a switch and hooking up to e brake

It is illegal and unsafe to watch the monitor while driving. I assume this is needed for an RV or something.

STEP ONE. Ground the E-Brake wire.
No matter which method you use, you must ground the brake detection wire. I suggest you tap it into the ground wire on your wiring harness (ensures a good ground).

1. FACTORY RESET METHOD (Temporary)
(This isn't the most effective, but it is the easiest to try, so it's worth a shot since it apparently works on some units.)
** Go to the Menu
** Get to the Settings Menu
** Select <yes> to Reset to Factory Settings.

Have recently heard complaints of this method not being permanent, as this is needed everytime they want to watch a DVD. Also, radio and screen angle presets are lost.

----------------

2. AUDIO CD METHOD (Permanent)
** Insert Audio CD
** Press PLAY
** Press STOP twice on remote
** Enter 26604 on remote
** Press ENTER
** Take out Audio CD and Insert a DVD

----------------

3. DVD METHOD (Permanent)
** Insert a DVD
** Let it play until you hear sound
** Press STOP twice on remote
** Enter 26604
** Press ENTER

The blue warning screen should immediately go away after pressing the last digit of "26604." Still press ENTER as a precaution.

try this we dont have the same dual model but the code isnt for my model anyway. put a dvd in the player and after it comes up with the warning screen when you start to hear sound hit stop twice on the remote and then press 26604
then just find the parking break override menu and turn it to on

important. you must ground out the wire and take the switch out first! hope this helps.

Overriding e brake video defeat

There is no e-brake override code. You have to hardwire it to bypass the e-brake. Take the peach-colored wire and ground it to metal inside the dash. Put a toggle switch inline on the wire and mount it somewhere you can reach it. When you get the blue screen when starting a movie, open the switch for 3-5 seconds, then close it again to reapply the ground. Your movie will start up, and you can then drive away with it playing.
