Where are you trying to update the expiration date? If your card itself has an expiration date that needs updated, your bank will usually issue you a new one, with a new expiration date automatically before your old one expires. If you are talking about an online store, you will need to login to the store with your e-mail address and password, click on payment methods or cards on file (depending on the store) and then edit the payment method.

It would help if you mentioned where you were trying to update the date. Your question does not give much information to go on.

there is usually a large sticker on the bottom that has the model number along with the expiration date or sometimes thhe number is etched into the actual plastic. Sometimes can be found on the side to if not on the bottom.

The expiration date is usually six years after manufacture (not first use). An expiration date may be embossed into the back or bottom of the plastic shell.

The PortAbout 5 was last manufactured in 2005, making it very likely the seat has expired. Contact Evenflo (800-233-5921, www.evenflo.com) about the expiration date and reattaching the visor (if the seat has not expired). Please DO NOT use an expired seat!
Manufacturer states that, when installing this rear facing only restraint in an outboard seating position, there should be at least 1.5" of space between the restraint, including the handle, and the
back of the front seat.
Do not remove the harness strap from the adjuster. If the harness is ever mistakenly removed, Evenflo will send a new harness with adjuster.

There should be an expiration date on the back of the seat and that doesnt help it do not hurt to stop in at the local police station and ask them to take a look at it.

there are no such thing as expiration dates for car seats but I would check with the manufaturer for recalls and also maybe consumer reports or the bbb

Not really a solution, as I can't help with putting it back together, BUT the Freeway was retired in 2001. That means that any of them still out there are now well past the 6 year expiration date, and therefore, no longer safe to use. I know car seats are not cheap, but please destroy these out of date seats and put your little sweethearts in non-expired, safer seats.
Car seats expire not only because the technology changes, but also because after a few years, the plastic, like any other material, begins to degrade and weaken even if it looks fine. There's a great video here to help show this.
