Switching extensions Everyone switched offices that had set up lines and took their phones with them. Now their phones don't work when I try to transfer a call to them. How do I get their extensions back on track so that I can transfer calls to them?

What do you mean their phones do not work when transfering to them... their phones still are working, but they might be different extensions now.

If you goto a set, and do a FEATURE * 0, and then press their intercom button, and see what extension comes up.

Lets check the system programming for autoset relocate:
-> get into the system
-> find SYSTEM PROGRAMMING and enter
-> find FEATURE SETTINGS and enter
-> look for SET RELOCATION: this is probably set to NO...
(when autoset relocation is set to yes, the telephone sets become smart phones, meaning when you move the sets- the extension(s) and buttons follow the set; if it set to no, the programming remains in the room/jack/port.)

There are a couple of options; but the easiest is to get the people to put back their phones to where they were, go into system programming after everyone put their phones back, turn Set Relocation to YES... and then get them to move the sets to their new offices... the phones will take sometime to come up(flashing alot longer than usual), that is because the system is reprogramming the sets to their new port assignment.

We have one main printer in our office connected to our network which everyone in the office can use. It is also what we use as our fax machine. It is plugged in to the wall jack, using a data and phone...

Adding another PC with a wired Ethernet connection would be easiest by adding an Ethernet switch, assuming you have another outlet. Depending on the network speed, this can be really cheap. I've seen Gigabit 8 port switches for $20 retail. 10/100 Mbit switches are cheaper. Higher speed network switches are more expensive.

Adding a phone line could be more of a problem. There are basic telephone jack splitters if you want the new desk to share a phone number with the fax. See https://www.amazon.com/phone-jack-splitter/s?k=phone+jack+splitter . This would act the same as using a Telephone handset jack that is on some printer/fax machines. However, if the person at the desk picks up the extension before the machine does, that individual would have to manually start the Receive Fax process on hearing the tones. Similarly, the person using the phone would have to wait for the Fax to end its call to use the phone line for anything else. You could also use a junction box to split the line outside the wall jack.

Using a junction box might also let you create a L1 and L2 wire from your phone service to that jack. Then you could use a specific L1+L2, L1, L2 splitter at the jack, Amazon.com: C2G 41062 Two Line Telephone Splitter L1 + L2: Electronics . Then each phone would get its own number. This depends on how your office adds phone lines.

I hope this helps.

Norstar M7208, it's direct line number is diverting to another ph

It could be a simple as the phone has call forwarding to another extension set up on it or the direct line could also be programmed on the other set. Does the screen on the non- ringing m7208 display "forward to:xxx" or does it display the current day and time?

Call forwarding

The 50 command is for call forwarding of an individual phone, not the incoming calls. There are several conditions that have to be met to make forwarding work. First, you need your ICD group extension. It's generally 600, but we use 100 or 199 or 200 sometimes. The command is in the back of the Operations Manual (OM) and it is in the form of (assuming 600) *71416009+number#. *7140600 cancels.

Here's a copy of the manual, just in case you don't have one. Page 192 shows the sequence. You might also look at *710 command on the same page for setting forwarding. It is quicker than the 50 commands and sets the status of your FWD/DND button.

Hello, i hope you[re doing great.  I had a problem with the auto dial button and a solution was to change from program to set.... in the rear part of the phone, where the phone cable plugs in, there is a little switch. Try changing its position, hope this works for you too...

Forwarding calls between extensions

Yes, press Feature 4, then enter the extension of the line you wish to forward the ring to. You can also go into the phone configuration to forward after a set # of rings. To ring another extension at set times you will need admin access.
