The problem you now have is probably going to cost you more money to fix than the radio is worth. Could be a quick simple fix or you could be at it for hours trying to fix it. you will need a scope, frequency counter,watt meter, modulation meter, signal generator, volt meter,distortion meter,and a service manual from

it could be a number of things and is a little tricky to fix without the right equipment!! You could try by replacing AM MOD AMP. which are TR 49, TR 50, & TR 51 Try that and your AM modulation should come back!! Let us know

Hello,
It sounds like your crystal has gone bad. More than likely it is the 10.25 crystal. Unfortunately if you have no Oscilloscope then you need to take it to a radio tech as you have to inject a frequency into the triple band to get the radio to Oscillate again, once the crystal is replaced.
