The inner ring or center part of the element is burned out. You will need to replace the entire element, as it is not possible to replace just part of it.

Sure can. One element can easily be replaced. If your model number is correct, you can find replacement parts at searspartsdirect.com. Type in your model number in the Search menu and the surface elements can be found under the "Cooktop Parts" heading. I do not know which element you have that is bad, but they are identified as item 12 and by wattage rating. Use care when selecting to make sure you identify the correct element. The smaller elements have a lower wattage rating than the larger elements. There's also an illustrated view for easy part identification. Some parts come with directions on how to replace. Those same instructions can be used to replace a single element. Instead of removing all the elements and cooktop, you will only have to remove and replace the one element.
