I just had to repair one of these guns for work. It's a bit tricky, seeing as you are dealing with springs and such...but it can be done. Take your time ...don't set the springs until you have things set in place and lined up. Make sure the pins are in place. Set the flat spring first (it is the toughest) while the handle is depressed all the way in. Gently open the handle and then set the torsion spring. Take your time here...springs are set and they could make all the pieces fly out if you don't quickly get the other half put on it. Hope this helps.
I had to take mine apart to clear a jam, and it exploded due to the springs. Your picture was very valuable for figuring how it was supposed to go together; thank you. I'm not sure I agree with your assembly method, though, so I offer an alternative and a little other info (in no particular order): the tips of the main spring go into the square holes in the piece people are calling the bumper (which actually drives the staple out), the main pivot pin for the handle is free floating and can fall out or down behind the handle parts (took me a minute to find mine - it was underneath). I was working on a flat surface and applying downward pressure to hold things in place, I wouldn't think trying to hold it in your hand would work very well). The assembly sequence I ended up with was: leave the handle pivot pin out; position the handle torsion spring (coiled spring) on the bar, leave the other end floating; position the plastic guide (the drive bar has to sit in the center slot on the plastic piece); leave the left end (reference the pic above) of the main spring floating out of position; put the spring tips into the bumper; work the whole output end into position, make sure the drive bar is also on its pivot pin; holding the output end assembly down I used some pliers to grab and torque the left end of the main spring up and into position (this takes some dexterity and leverage - and this is where I disagree most, with your statement about having the handle depressed all the way - this just loads the main spring and makes it harder to force it into position); it took a little fine tuning (a push here, a smack there) to get the output end parts mostly aligned; using needle nose pliers I set the short end of the torsion spring; now insert the handle pivot pin; position the staple guide (bottom right corner piece in image above); and then the staple magazine bar (spring-loaded reloading slider bar); double check everything's position, and gently work the other half of the shell on and screw it together. Work the trigger grip and hopefully, it works. Good luck.

"LOVENHEIM" was right on the money. I found difficulty in aligning the white plastic bumper (between the frame and the flat spring). When I looked at the inside of the other half of the cassing, I realized that there was a slot into which the bumper must fit when the two halves were brought together. I then was able to fit the bumper correctly. One other thing, you must remember to fit the staple holder before putting the two halve together. The exploded diagram was invaluable and I could't have made the repairs without it. Thanks Lovenheim.
Could somebody PLEASE reload the picture or diagram? The original is lost and Fixya support doesnt seem to be interested in finding it.
From the number of readers and reporters of this problem, it is obviously a widesprea one, so, I join in with my voice shouting........
HELP...diagram needed!!!!!
My solution was to buy a new staple gun. They are $20.00 at The Home Depot. The time it would take me to figure out how to put it back together was worth the Jefferson note to buy a new one. I kept all the parts so I'll work on it someday.

i need to re assemble my stapler
I also need to re assemble my powershot. Need description of where that silly spring is suppose to go.
I need to reasemble my staple gun too. help me!!!!
i need an exploded view to put it back together
While part of me agrees with the solution of "buy a new one," my problem is a little bigger than that... this is my father's staple gun, lent to me by my mother, and he's really big on his old tools and not really liking to buy new ones. So, any advice on putting this thing back together would be great! I'm pretty sure I know where most of the parts go, there are just 2 or 3 that have me a little confused.
Thanks!
my stapler's handle jammed so i unscrewed it and now i cant put it back together
