My Monitor Is Going Crazy

My Monitor flickers, freezes and goes black...
It freezes from time to time it includes the mouse cursor and keyboard.

The screen goes black for a second or two then comes back even if it is running and turned on.Meaning the light is yellow not red signaling that it is on. Normally you only get black screen when it is off and the light is red.
It's really annoying and gives me a hard time...

I'm not sure if it has something to do with the motherboard or what that causes the problem.
Please I'm badly in need of help.I don't have much resource and money to buy a new one or whatever.
Thanks to whomever will help...

try to check the power option. check if the hibernate option is disable.

  • Anonymous Mar 25, 2009

will have to take this step by step so that we can identify where is the problem. make sure that hibernate option in power mode is disabled.then try if it is still the same.and then will go from there ok.

  • Anonymous Mar 26, 2009

ok. can you please disabled it first before we move on.after disabling try again to observed what will happen.you need patience here my dear.we need to see what happen first.if it is still the same or not.

  • Anonymous Mar 26, 2009

under power option you can see below the option power saver, "turn off the display" make the option to never.

  • Anonymous Mar 26, 2009

we need to check it first in your software before we go on to your hardware.after the software is done and it is still the same, this is the time we are going to troubleshoot your hardware ok.

Keyboard and mouse not working and monitor going to sleep

NO OS stated, XP"? never post without OS stated, or answer get 10x more harder, See? make it easy for the helper and get more help.....
no Monitor stated. (maker, CRT, LCD what?)
The monitor is not fibbing to you BTW, the PC did go dead or to sleep. seems its monitor monitor of some kind with DVI.

if the monitor works on other PCs then the monitor is not bad.
i Bet it works (old ones 2002, have a hidden deep internal sleep mode. and is not yours IM sure now) DVI IS THE ONLY CLUE THERE.
So PC is dead. this PC came with only VISTA new,
is it still VISTA?????????
HP has support on it still
here (carbon dated by me 2008, IIRC)
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-slimline-s3400-desktop-pc-series/3688715/model/3688723

this year,? get all those files and books there backed up
when HP support ends after 10 year rule, (be savvy?)

what keyboard USB or wireless keyboard mouse
use wired USB keyboards if wireless the battery is dead. easy no?

now in VISTA, go to Control panel, click power
turn off all sleep modes and all hibernate modes
the turn off screen savers, if turned on , disktop . RC right click
in display settings or personalize, turn off , need login to come out of sleep or screen saver.
try a real keyboard, that has USB cable yet? be first thing to do.
always keep a real keyboard, handy,,,
batteries fail. in all wireless devices like this (inside them)

luck you desktops have lies DIM fails. there are many.

one other way , and common is PC overheated.
all do that.
ever one not cleaned out every year,.

#1 all time cause of overheat and PC shuts down.

Logitech m 705 mouse pointer flickering

Click the Windows "Start" button or press the "Windows" key. The "Start" menu opens.

Type "Cursor blink" in the "Search programs and file" text box.

A list opens.

Click "Change Cursor Blink Rate." The "Keyboard Properties" window opens.

Click the "Speed" tab. A list of options appears.

The "Cursor Blink Rate" section shows a "Cursor Blink Rate" slider displaying a range from "None" to "Fast."

Click and drag the slider button to the "None" area in the far left portion of the "Cursor Blink Rate" scale.

Click "Apply."

Click "OK." The cursor stops flickering on the screen.

hope this helps

Ie goes crazy

Dynex is a cheapo brand that usually can be found at Bestbuy. I would not recommend the dynex products at all. You could be getting interference from cell phones, your monitor, a microwave oven, etc.. I have a couple wireless mouse and keyboard sets I got at radioshack that work very well. They only cost me about 20$ and are the Labtec brand.

If you want something a lot better go for logitech products, they are a bit more pricey though.

Screen goes to sleep after "no signal" message

If you do not move the mouse or press any key on the keyboard it could be just going into video power save. Confirm it by moving the mouse or pressing a key on the keyboard. If the monitor comes back on, adjust the power settings in control panel and change the time for the "turn off display" to a more suitable setting.

Moving cursor.

well there is a few things that could possibly be happening. if it is a touch pad or a wireless mouse something like a cell phone sitting close enough to them could be causing some interference. the second one is that you could possibly have the mouse keys turned on where you can control the mouse with the keyboard.

Mouse stops responding randomly

The issue may not necessarily be with the mouse. Are you able to use the keyboard once the mouse freezes? If you not even able to use the keyboard, there is some application installed on your computer or a virus due to which the mouse freezes. If, in case, the keyboard works even though the mouse is stuck, try changing the USB port or try a different mouse. Please revert back with any other observations. Good Luck
