Flash drive repair

My flash drive is not registering on my computer and any other computer in the office it was working fine yesterday. i need to get my information from it. what can i do
I've just bent a Lexar 1GB flash drive against my laptop. The wiring seems to be broken because my laptop cannot recognize the flash drive anymore. The flash drive is not expensive but it keeps lots of my pictures. Is there anyway that I can either retrieve the files or save the flash drive? Please help. I'm really desperate!

I can only comment generically:

I would try to uninstall the drive on the OS. Then re-start the computer. After the re-start, connect the drive and see if the drive re-installs itself.

If the error persists, then the drive is indicating failure. To absolutely verify if it has failed, take the drive to a store where there are MAC computers and try the drive on one of their computers to see if it works.

A continuous flashing LED on most devices where the LED does not normally continuously flash is an indication of a failure of the device. Some devices will flash an error code when designed to do so, and if possible.

My usb device was working fine until yesterday when I plugged it in and I kept getting an Unknown device error with the following message: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported...

Code 43 errors are nearly always caused by a driver issue. However, since you have tried the device in several different computers with the same result, I believe that your flash drive has gone bad or become damaged. Unfortunately this is not an uncommon problem with flash drives. Like any storage device on the computer, make sure you are backing up what is on your flash drive.

I hope this is helpful to you

Have you installed a scanner/another external USB drive since first trying your Flash drive? If so, try unplugging that and re-insert your Flash drive. I had this problem and a friend suggested this and it worked!

Flash drive repair

Some times if a flash drive is not ejected, if it is just pulled out, it can wipe all information. I learnt the hard way, make sure you eject each time.  Sorry if this is already known, some times it can be hidden if the file attributes  have been set to hidden. Try looking in you view option and see if they are set to hide files set to hidden.
hope it might help  Mr Fixitcv12

Drive Installation

Yes, you can just install your software and the drive but its best that you register immeidiately. They have decent customer service where they will replace you broken drive with a new one, if it dies...that happened to my first My Book Pro Edition drive...so be careful...if you are rich and can afford 1000 to have your lost data recovered, then fine. Im not rich and cant afford that so i lost ALL my data (500 gb) on my first drive. Because I registered it, I got a free drive four or five days later, if you have a credit card. Then i shipped them my old drive. Unfortunately, my new drive was fine for a year and died yesterday, again, ive lost ALL my data...consider making an additional backup of things you really NEED. Spending a 100 dollars just for that kind of back up is much cheaper than 1000 to recover the entire drive. Hope that helps. CJ Plourde

Imation Swivel Flash Drive Cant detect

is it several times that youve used your flash driver at your office? and which side of the usb port did you plug it? coz when it is your first time to use your flash drive at your office and your plugging it at the front side of the PC. well there might be something wrong with connection and may cause damage to the board of the flash drive. if it your using it several times, well try to check at your PC, then do the following specs:

my computer (right click and select manage)
and under manage window ( select disk management )
try to see if your flash drive registered (you can see the drives of your PC) and see if theres a volume (either raw/ or theres a partition on it).

if not, well the board of your flash drive might be damaged, mostly these were caused by the power of the system, fluctuation is one of them, then improper plugging of the flashdrive.

Flash drive repair

Not much I'm afraid. Sounds like it's dead, happens with thumbdrives sometimes, especially if you pull it out without stopping it or ejecting it properly first. I've heard of software that can try to recover files from corrupted thumdrives but if it's not working electronicaly with the computer it's useless. A data recovery service my be able to access the flash chip on the drive directly but this would cost a lot I'm sure.
