Bosch dishwasher timer freezing

I have a Bosch dishwasher (about 6 or 7 years old):
Start Dishwasher
Timer advances
Timer freezes during wash cycle and unit makes humming noise (runs and runs and runs)
I manually advance Timer
Dishwasher timer continues
Timer freezes right before rinse cycle and unit makes humming noise (runs and runs and runs)
I manually advance Timer
Dishwasher timer continues
Timer freezes right before dry cycle and unit makes humming noise (runs and runs and runs)
I manually advance Timer
Dishwasher continues to end

Dishes aren't very clean
When complete, a little water is left in dishwasher, but this is normal.

My exxcel boch dishwasher is about 4-5 years old. I turn it on the timer 124 shows and then it just makes a humming noise. It does not start and eventually cuts out without cleaning items inside. I advance the timer and still nothing. Any ideas?

There is a recall on the control board of many of these models, butyour problem is likely not related. It sounds like a plugged drain system or a possible bad drain pump. That's why you are hearing the pump running constantly. I have written a guide to help. It is here. Thanks!

Why does by dishwasher not cycle through

The timer controls the electro-mechanical components in the dishwasher such as the wash pump, drain pump, inlet water valve and heating element. The timer also advances the control knob on the control panel. Replace the timer if it fails to start and stop the components properly or fails to advance the control knob. Dishwasher Won

Hi 2ipnelson,

Very difficult to know for sure which part is not working.

It is best to run the dishwasher in testing / service mode to ascertain which component is not working.

I found a .pdf document that explains the whole process, it should also work for your SHE model.
The link: LINK - CLICK HERE

Follow the steps, and the culprit part should be diagnosed.

Hope this helps :-)

Kenmore Dishwasher 587.15163401 knob stuck mid-cycle

See if it is stuck on a water heat cycle. if the heater circuit or the thermostat is not working properly it will continue to run looking for a rise in temperature. If these are in working order the timer it self could be sticking and not advancing.

Dishwasher stalls

If the cycle doesn't complete, check these:

Water-heating cycle
Timer
Water-heating cycle Many dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next, depends, as follows:

  • On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time.

  • On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too.

Timer Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it.
