Fossil JR8096 - Display Not Working

The Fossil big tic watch - model no. JR8096 has an analog dial with the seconds in a digital display at the back of the watch face. the display is no longer working, yet the watch is still showing the correct time. This to me indicates that the battery is still working, but the digital display is no longer working.

Well, to the guest from 3 years ago......the person doesn't care about a "similar watch." If you didn't have the same exact watch then don't answer. The JR-8096 uses two separate batteries. One of them is a 2016 and the other is a smaller SR621SW (crosses over to Energizer 364 ). Fossil intentionally does not list which batteries their watches use because they want to charge you for the replacement. The smaller battery is held in place by a tab. Do not completely remove the screw securing the tab. Just loosen it or else you will never get the screw back in. The screw is extremely small. - Helmut Roner, Tampa, Florida

I have a big tic fossil watch. The flashing second is working properly, but the hand doesnt. It looks like slowing down. How can I fix this problem. Thank you

your watch has two batteries inside, the small battery is the one that had to be replaced. it is under the big battery, the small battery makes the minute and hour hand move while the big battery makes the seconds flashing. i hope that i had been helped you.

I have a BIG TIC JR-8529. Is this model obsolete? The watch was not working properly (stopping/slowing down), so I replaced the battery. It seems fine now, but still no digital display in the background...

Since Fossil do not list their instructions under model numbers it is difficult to be sure that you rmodel still exists but if you go to their web site for instructions http://www.fossil.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ContentView?langId=10&storeId=32553&catalogId=20002&page=instructions

(click on this link to go there) and you will see some instructions for various big tic watches and you can select the one that suits yours.

The only one that I could find that had a single button above the winder used it to cahnge the colour. Pressing this button for 2 seconds will change the colour to "alternating" and the same again will produce a fixed colour. Perhaps this will make the change of display you need.

Often with watches, you need to use a pair of tweezers to short the battery case to the chassis ((often marked "ac"). This seems to be a re-set function, although I have never found an explanation for the need to do this.

If all else fails, look up their contact details and speak to them about your problem.

The hands have stopped on my Fossil Big Tic watch but the digital display still works, like the seconds.

This watch has 2 batteries so sounds like the main one has gone flat and the display one is still going, you just need to get the battery replaced.

Big tic no longer changes color

The big tic has two batteries. The battery for the display may need to be changed and the circuit reset. You can then hold the display button down for 2.5 seconds to cycle through the display function.

Fossil Big Tic Watch - setting the correct time on the digital display

The watch is scrolling through the seconds, and is not something that needs to be set. If there is a bottom it is only there to change the way the seconds are scrolling? There are many different types of these, but most are just standard seconds.
