The parking brake won't hold when engaged and when let down to release, the mower immediately goes into reverse with levers in neutral position.
SOURCE: The mower starts, the blades will engage, but when
Here is a dumb question for you, are you sitting on the machine when you release the petal?
Most new machines have a 'operator presence' safety system on them. To run the machine, the operator must be in the operators regular position. I would guess you know this.
Can you release the brake and continue to run with the mower off???
Maybe your machine requires you to engage the drive and then the mower???
So, if the engine dies when you engage the drive system, the tractor thinks there is no one in the seat. Look for a switch malfunction under your seat.
Please let me what happens. Id like to solve this for you.

SOURCE: engine runs good but dies when brake/clutch is let
well the not moveing could be the brakes are rusted look were the break rod goes put some wd40 on that its on the side of the trans and you will need to move back and forth to free it up and the cluch break switch is bad i hope this helps you
SOURCE: freewheel lever broken
For the wire to come all the way out lever on top of the trans must be broken. I've seen a few. Jack rear of mower up, remove rear right wheel and find remnants of lever. With pliers turn this all the way forward, mower will now go. But to fit new lever trans will have to be removed. Dont forget the axle key.
first check belt then check the idle pully
