Make sure filters are not blocked by removing pipes from machine after shutting water off. check in valves behind machine small filter sieves can be remove from valves and washed in reverse.
If the water valve is bad it will hum and no water will enter the washer, first thing is to see if it's a problem with the house water valve or the washer valve, shut off the water supply, reomve the water hoses from the back of washer, mark the hoses so they go back on the same way, stick the hoses into the washer or a bucket and turn the water on,if water comes out of hoses then you know the problem is just the washer, check the valve, look at the screens where the hoses connect to the valve, usually sediment gets in there and the valve on the washer has to be replaced,on some the screens can be removed and cleaned, also you say you have trouble with the lock, what's humming is it the lock or the valve,if you turn it to drain and spin will it run?you could have a bad door switch,if door doesn't latch washer won't run but most likely bad water valve

sounds like a water fill problem to me, normally at start of cycle door locked, program set, start water solenoid opens and fills machine with water, once water reaches set level heater will come on and wash program will commence,
so if you have a restriction in the water supply/ water tap not turned on correctly, on blockage in water solenoid valve water flow to machine will be restricted causing a long delay before machine starts, things to try
1. make sure hose connection water valve is fully open
2.open soap draw to see / if you can hear water flowing into machine,
3 if its very slow you have a restriction in water supply
could be a twist in water supply hose, causing a restriction
all above is if machine is taking to long to fill with water,
good luck .
There is a seliond that opens a value to let the water into the mashing one for hot and one for cold water unless you have a cold water fill machine then there is only one you can hear a click as it operates and fills with water if no click that the place to start or could be the door lock is not locking so the machine won't fill
All Kenmores are the bottom of the line appliances. If under warranty, call Sears. Your machine has problems. May be on it's last legs. None of these sounds are 'normal'. Motors wearing out, likely.
This problem
is caused when the motor goes bad and needs replacement. The control will fill
water and then sends signal to the motor to start a cycle, if it won't work
then it will drain the water and so won't start the cycle. However, it can also
be a bad door latch-lock assembly as if the control senses that the door is not
closed it won't start the cycle. If you hear any humming buzzing sound from the
bottom of the unit then replace the motor if not then replace the latch
assembly. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
Water leak and noise are due to wrong temp setting or malfunction of defrost cycking.Keep temp setting between 3 and 5 degree centigrade. Due to over frosting, the freezer fan fan hits over the ice and working to cool fridge compartment. And also check defrost timer, and heaterworking properly to defrost in time. And if your ice maker is making sound, due to:
You will hear a buzzing sound when the water valve opens to fill the water reservoir for each cycle.
Rattling noises may come from the flow of the refrigerant or water line. Items stored on top of the ice maker can also make noises.
The high-efficiency compressor may make a pulsating or high-pitched sound.
Water running over the evaporator plate may make a splashing sound.
Water running from the evaporator plate to the water reservoir may make a splashing sound.
As each cycle ends, you may hear a gurgling sound due to the refrigerant flowing in your ice maker.
You may hear air being forced over the condenser by the condenser fan.
During the harvest cycle, you may hear a "thud" when the ice sheet slides from the evaporator onto the cutter grid.
When you first start the ice maker, you may hear water running continuously. The ice maker is programmed to run a rinse cycle before it begins to make ice.
It sounds like need to make some voltage checks on this job.
When you set the fill cycle to hot & start the machine do you hear
the valve buzz? If you do then the valve is causing the problem.
it sounds as if its your lid switch. on some top load whirlpool washer it will fill even if the lid is open. if you open the control panel and open the jones plug you can check for continuity on the lid switch
