I think it is freezing up. It quit working, I turned it off for one day, then turned it back on and it worked for about 8 hours and stopped again. Where would it freeze up at? I looked in the return but didn't see anything. Our house is big so I was wondering where else to look.

what refig and where are the pressures. freeze up is always low charge or lack of air flow and always occurs at the evap. Once it starts and you loose surface area you have to defrost manually

you can check amp draw on the motor if it is high the motor could be going off on the over load,also check the uF with a multi meter. also when the motor stops feel the motor and see if it is really hot. if it is hot it is a sign that it is going.

What you're experiencing is usually a result of a refrigerant leak in the coils or the insulation is missing on the outside copper tubing going into the house.If it's a leak, that's not a DIY project. If it's the foam insulation missing or severely worn, you can replace that yourself.

The system has a refrigerant leak. The leak needs to be found and repaired and the system recharged. Not a do it yourself project.
