Windows media player is not playing that shows informatinWindows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.

Are the problems with Media Player only? Are you getting the normal system sounds? Does any other media player work such as RealPlayer or Quicktime?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Have you attempted to update the drivers of the sound-card? Have you attempted to uninstall then reinstall Windows Media Player?

Dvd medie player

It seems you don't have any codecs... The problem is not in windows media player.
Just install a codec pack like http://www.free-codecs.com/download/codec_pack_all_in_1.htm

Hope to solve your problem.

Try another Media Player, it may be the File Format. Try this freeware Media Player, VLC, 32 or 64bit?, found here along with Real Player Media Player: http://www.filehippo.com/download_vlc_32/ You can find many freeware/shareware programs here: http://www.filehippo.com/

I am trying to download music I purchased on itunes to my mp3 player. It shows it on the list when I have it on the computer, but does not show or play on the actual mp3 player. What do I do>

Hi dasdis07...

You did not say what manufacture your MP3 player is so it is hard to tell you what to do.
I will assume you have a normal MP3 player...not an Ipod.
Check to see what format your MP3 player will play...because the I-tunes songs are in ACC.
Normal everyday players play MP3,WMA,ect...but will not play ACC that plays on ipods.
You will also need to download (FREE) and run a media converter so that you can convert your ACC music files to MP3,WMA,etc files that will play on your MP3 player.
Once you have your music converter and on Windows Media Player, then you can transfer them to your MP3 player
What your going to have to do is follow these instructions below:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Music to MP3 Player

1...You must download and install Windows Media Player 11 on your computer.
NOTE...Some older MP3 players will not work with Windows Media Player 11 or Windows 7 with Windows Media Player 11.
If this happens to you, then you will have to uninstall Windows Media Player 11 and install Windows Media Player 10.
2...After you have downloaded and installed Media Player on your computer.
3...Open Media Player on your computer.
4...Install all your music into Media Player that you want to install on your MP3 player.
5...Plug in your MP3 player to the computer using your Data/Sync cord, be sure that Windows Media Player is on.
6...Media player should recognize the MP3 player and sync with it.
7...After it is sync'ed with the computer, you can add the music you have installed into Windows Media Player to your MP3 Player.

Windows media player 11wont play backtrack line 6marked files

Go to Filehippo.com and download and istall K-Lite Codec Pack 5.90 (Full) it should beef up your windows media player to accommodate most codec's.

If that doesn't do the job, again from filehippo, download and install VLC Media Player.

Both programmes are freeware.

you've got this error because you are playing file that is not supported to your windows media player. try to play it with other media player just live VLC player, Real Player, or DVD Player or try to convert the file using a conversion program and convert it to wmv or any known media player that windows media player can support.

I want to play bbc iplayer downloads with windows media player si

I find the K-lite Codec pack covers just about every video format. The included older style windows media player classic is also far less problematic than windows media - download 'Full' version here;

No video from my casio ex-z1080

How are you viewing your movies? If you are using Windows Media Player, or equivalent, chances are your computer doesn't have the necessary codecs installed to play the video. This can be remedied 3 ways:

1. Install random video codecs one by one for hours on end and hope you find one that works.
2. Install the K-Lite Codec Pack Full edition (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_lite_codec_pack.htm) and have every driver under the sun on your computer, ensuring it plays the video.
3. (Recommended) Install VLC media player, a lightweight media player that has self contained, very space efficient codecs that will play pretty much anything you can throw at it. (Even improperly transcoded ("broken") files.) http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ This solution will benefit you in the long run as chances are you won't have to worry about codecs again.
