New Screen in Laptop but Windows 7 Won't Boot

After a drop left my laptop screen cracked, I ordered a replacement screen and put it in. It displays fine and boots up all of the way until it prompts me to execute startup repair. It will run for a long long time and finally decide that it can't be fixed. I know the screen fits and works, I just need to know what to do in order to make windows accept it.

Check the windows repair or even reinstall windows with a disc so that everything is detected.

Testimonial: "Tried running windows repair and it will go forever saying that it could not complete. I lost my windows CD, so I was hoping there was a way to get the new monitor driver on without having to wipe everything. It worked great before the new screen, minus the cracks."

Yea, I understand even though it worked with old the new is still new hardware and would need to be detected you can try to get a cd from a friend or family or get it somewhere downloadable and burn it at a friends or something so that you can use a cd to repair and not reinstall .

SOURCE: Windows XP Unusually Slow Startup

There is a program called Boot Speed you can find by searching inside of MajorGeeks.com

Otherwise, I'd like to know what antivirus software you are using. Some antivirus programs can really slow down a bootup time because they usually scan a lot of prgrams and XP services at boot up.

Then you would want to get hold of an XP tweak utility, best one is Cacheman XP that you can find at MajorGeeks.com also.
Once Cacheman is installed and open the program you will see a tap in the program window called Tweaks. When you are in there, open the Help file and read the help associated with the Tweaks and you will see some good guidance on turning off settings available in buried locations of XP. The programs MS now downloads for you like Malicious Software program will slow down your boot speeds too.

XP is notoriously slow at booting and yours is about 30 outside the average bootup times you should expect.

SOURCE: Network Boot Windows XP?

Put the HDD in any other computer , creat a folder called XPbackup and copy the XP cd to the folder, Start the XP install from the other computer  , when the install stops for CD key , turn of the computer and remove the HDD and put the HDD on the laptop and turn it on , Mostly the installation should start from where it stoped. If the Xp install askes for the source files , browse to the folder created and point to the files. Most of the time XP will install a generic HAL so no need to worry.

SOURCE: Mahjong Titans (Windows 7) worked well until

try running winows 7 in safe mode, ie hit F8 on startup before windos stars then try to run the game, if it works in safe mode it could be the graphics card on the way out.

I have a toshiba satelite L655-s5117 laptop and it won't boot up even when i try and boot from windows 7 disk it won't

Probably a faulty hard drive. go into the setup screen and verify the HD setting is correct. save your settings and reboot. if this doesn't solve it, then take out battery and disconnect power, remove hard drive and reconnect. try reboot. if none of that works, then replace hard drive and reinstall OS.

The windows files are corrupted or the hard drive has issues, load cd installation disc if available, if that fails have the hardware checked for possible replacement.

My laptop is a used Toshiba satellite and it needs a operating system it won't even load to the desktop screen I don't have a disk either what do I do

The best thing would be a partition on the factory-installed hard drive that contains the OS and recovery data, you can boot to that. If it's a new hard drive, then you need a new operating system (OS) for the laptop.
You'll need to buy and install Windows 7. Put the Win7 disc in the laptop's CD drive, and have the most experienced computer person you know do the rest. Be patient with that person.
The place where you buy Windows 7 can probably do all of the setup work for you for a nominal fee.

My MSI MS-1683 Laptop With Windows 7 Home Premium won't boot up right. When I hit the power button, it loads to the screen that says "MSI" and then to a screen that has an underscore that...

That blinking underscore is the way in which the laptop's BIOS is telling you that it didn't find any Windows to boot to - it was completely corrupted.
The only thing left to do is to reinstall it.

My toshiba satelite a200 laptop was dropped and when turned on will only go as far as loading.......thats it.....any suggestions thanks?

If it says "Windows loading" I am assuming it's vista or windows 7 then you can try to either get it to boot up into recovery mode. Let it come up all the way and reboot it. (chances are this won't work)

Chances are the drop caused the spindles from the drive to hit the platters and scrambled the data. The drive might be permantley damaged (if you hear clicking noises from the drive it's a goner)

You can try to either return it to the system restored state (factory original) which unless you have a usb to pata/sata cable and a second system you can try to see if the drive is readable from to be able to copy your files back off of the laptops drive (this will involve removing the drive fromt he laptop of course)

Once that is done try these steps, hope they will help you:
1. Copy all your files and documents to an external storage device.
2. Shut down the computer.
3. Turn the PC back on and hit the F8 key repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Option Screen appears.
4. Click "Repair Your Computer" if you are not already on it and then press ENTER
5. choose your country and click OK
6. On the "System Recovery Options Screen" click "Restore Application" which is the last option.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions
8. When prompted, click on "Full Factory Recovery"
9. "Next"
10. Click "Yes"
11. you will notice for a while it seems like nothing is happening, give it some time.
12. After some minutes, recovery will complete and you click "Finish"

If that dosent work (no factory restore partition) then you will have ot get an os disk and reinstall the os for the laptop and all the drivers.

If the drive is clicking/dead then you will have to buy a new harddrive and install the os from media (cd/dvd's)
