Hi - this machine can make espresso or cappusino coffees - as such there are 2 buttons (1 small cup and 1 large cup on the right handside to choose whether you are making an espresso or cappucino coffee. The difference is that the nespresso button delivers less water than the cappucino button for example. The problem is that when I pres the button indicating I want to make an espresso, the water does not stop flowing. So, it seems that whatever triggers the machine to measure the amount of awater needed doesn't work.
First thing to try is a descale. Run the machine normally using it (as if making a cup of both types) a couple of times with a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water. Leave the machine off but uncleaned overnight. run a couple of cycles with just water, and if there is still a slight vinegar taste then run a cycle with a teaspoon of baking soda in water, then flush with just water again. If this doesn't solve the problem, try again with 75% vinegar. If still not working, there is either a control board problem (may be solveable), or the valve/solenoid that stops/allows the water is sticking, almost certainly solveable by taking that apart and cleaning/lubricating. Definitely solveable by replacement. Let me know what you get after a descale if no luck. Hope this helps :)

Hi and thank you for your help - running the vinegar/water solution through it woked right away - I ran several large and small cups to clean it, left it overnight as you said and used it again this morning after running plain water through to remove any vinegar taste...

I own Krupps Nespresso XN2005. Have descaling solution but as no descaling button to select do I just use as if brewing coffee and add to water in chamber. repeating process.

i started the machine and it was blinking lights only for espresso shots. but not milk coffee. infact ive put the milk container in it, but still no success..
