I have 96 blazer 4.3 vortec no spark from coil new coil an heat sink and module fitted + new leads complete distributor and crankshaft sensor fitted got power to coil but no out put.

not S10
dead hv coil means input to coil is dead.
on this car, 1996 we look at the distributor wiring ,et al. to know what's up with that.
and fuses tops the list all EFI AND spark fuses. and ecu.(VCM)
the VSM needs 5 good fuses !!! #4,5,9,10,12
then learn to scan the VCM on any 96 or newer USA car it has
the new the OBD2 scan port (16pin) just like now.
see DTC errors cranked, p03xx errors are all that.
CMP error , CKP errors end spark for sure.
crank sensor or cam senors, 3 wire HALL sensors and there and the best kind is HALL.
the VCM (ecu/pcm) fires the spark control modlen and it the HV coil.
if CMP and CKP are not dead.
crank for 10second (release not off) and release. if either 2 sensor fail now the
scan tool tells you so.. DTC p03xx code errors.
cam must spin, and not be timed by kids.(or hold my beer)
  • bad fuses (x5)
  • bad cmp/ckkp (dead cam timed all wrong)
  • bad spark control module
  • bad HV coil
  • bad wires to all this. page. of listed things.
  • bad VCM (if obd2 fails consider this, if no COMMS)
  • rusty or loose connectors
is CEL/MIL/SES lamp in cluster dead it must glow keyon.
or lamp dead, vcm dead or fuse to ecu x5 dead.

hint1,use modern scan too, not one from 1996 era
many the only did 1 or 3 uSA cars then, (lack of 3 ports is why)
all; modern tools work here, 2005 year up

How do you get engine fire to the coil packs on a 2.0 engine

in all cases
check fuses, and scan it.
and do the test correctly , 2 coil packs are not test like 4 packs. not at all.
The J20 engines
so what country?
ours use 4 coil packs in USA.
outside USA some use 2 PACKS (wasted spark packs)
we cant guess what's under your hood nor, what EFI system is there. ever.
so ill answer for the USA setup 4x cop coils
C.O.P, coil over plug, x4
check fuses first (ig-coil and FI fuse)
check that Check engine lamp glows key on, if not power (elect) lost to PCM/ECU. (fuses blown)
ours is OBD2 compliant so all scan tools made here work.
next, is scan it, while cranking and in every case it tells you why.
the CKP sensor (crank) is behind the flywheel, (yes, transmission pulled.
the CMP sensor (cam) is on the left rear of cam. DOHC J20 engine
do not fiddle CMP, or lose spark timing. (compounding issues)
if you are compelled to fiddle about, match mark it first with a center punch tool or scribe. some later j20 cars the timing freeze jumper is in the factory scan tool only and no on left strut DCL conn. (mark it first)

that is it.. just sold all my suz. they are DOA here."bugged-out"

now my quesitons.
all 4 spark plugs dead.?
or just 2 (2 pack engine)
if just 2, then is it wasted spark 2 coil pack system
then yes, ? then use 2 spark plugs at one time, to test.
not 1 ever.
ask. or tell , or show a photo of your engine, if you want exact answers,
hints, (yes i travel outside usa and see all this...)
wasted spark has actual, old school spark HV wires on top of engine
some J20 have just 2 wires. and other half are direct fire.de791219-83fd-4c6f-8010-585464c0182d.jpg

How do i seat the oops timing to the spark plugs

hello Stu
no engine options stated, there are 4 engines. we cant guess that.
all 4 spark plugs dead, ?????????????????????????????????????
we next use a scan tool,
plug it in, get comms.
then crank for 5 seconds,
release key.
then see why there is no spark (ecu cuts fuel if spark is missing)
use any scan tool.
Generic for all EFI cars made.
if all you want to do is guess. then nobody can help. you.
here is a short list
1: bad fuse (looks good but is not) 0v on one side. key on.
2: bad connections in the EFI system (spark related)
3: bad ECU, (nah) (I repair them)
4;bad coil
5: bad ignitor to coil.
6: bad CMP (cam sensor)
7; bad CKP sensor (if separate from CMP) depends on engine used.
8: bad wiring to any of above. bad connectors to any of above.

learn to use a scan tool and win over 90% of the time,
working spark or injector or A/T transmissions.
on 2006 and newer cars, even more true.
on newer cars the scanner can even tell you the fuse is blown
even though the mech thinks its good.
some fuse have hair line cracks, that cant be seen.

the Scan tool does report bad sensors, if you just look.
at all times !!!

Justed change a coil on a 2006 suzuki forenza and it still has no spark

so engine rand perfectly before draining oil and refilling
and did you remove filter?
what test did you do to check spark , guess, or use a test spark plug and do all spark (x4) are they all dead.
did you remove those coil pack high voltage wires. oops that is timing, to the spark plugs, and must not be scrambled.
no spark real,
  1. fuses blown. check fuses.
  2. Key on CEL lamp in cluster must glow or PCM is dead, (fuses)
  3. crank with scan tool bingo scan tool tells you why no spark if cranked for 5 seconds, all EFI cars do that. 1989 to today.
  4. bad coil pack
  5. dead ignitor that drives coil pack (sadly inside ECU in 06)
  6. dead CMP sensor , scans prove it or CKP sensor. both.
that be it, all of it.
those are all tests. not guessing, nor dismantling car like last OP thinks. listed in order of easy , and cheap.

I have 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager and I have no spark to the coil pack, so I replaced the coil pack and the power train control module and still no spark and I also swap relays and still no spark . I...

Have you tried replacing the ecu? I dont think theres a way of testing it but the ecu is what tells the components in your engine to work lioke telling the alternator to charge the battery! That may or may not fix your problem but its worth a try!

2006 Suzuki forenza no fire from coil pack

what country? this is the WWW, post country for better answers.......!
Only a scope can see the fast 5mS signals to the coil.
so its either the coil pack or the ECU blown. (wires are always suspect)
you never said , all 4 are dead, or 1 or 2, and how many packs.
some non usa cars have wasted (2pak) spark , not 4 COPS.
state what cylinders have spark and which don't.
there are only 2 ways to fix cars.
1: guess and swap parts
2: use tools. my guess is you dont have them.
some coil packs are active (ignitor inside) others just a coil.
you can test the restance of the coils, with a DMM , ohm meter.
if active you cant.
the fsm covers this on all cars.
https://suzukipitstopplus.com/category/3-suzuki-service-manuals.aspx
the 2006 Forenza as delivered to USA has.....
has a large single, dual wasted spark coil pack. (brick)
it does in fact have , internal ignitor drivers. inside. so can not be tested
with and ohm meter on the primary side. but can be on the secondary
you do know how to test wasted spark , right, All spark plugs must be
attached and grounded for the coil to work,
1and 4 are shared.
2 and 3 are shared.
so to test , you must keep the spark plugs (both or all 4 is best)
attached and the shells of spark plugs grounded.
there is a fuse that powers the coil pack. (usa)
the fuel pump relay sends power to the coil pack.
so of that is dead,so will be the pack. (im reading FSM as it type)
get an FSM.
pin 2 on coil pack is power. 12v.
pin 1,is spark 1&4 drive (fast ECU pulse)
pin 3 is 2&3 coil drive. (scope can see it)

recap, are you using the correct wasted spark testing method.
and are all 4 spark plugs dead.?

Lost fire from distribitor

96 1.6l ( there are 3 fuses. FI, COIL and dome) fix those first.

the coil is inside, did you check the output of the coil
for spark cap off dizzy? is that no spark.?
is the tachometer dead cranking.? if yes no tacho, then there
is no coil drive. from ECU.
the Dizzy is 100% controlled by the ECU.
the ECU has an OBD2 scan port above the right knee,
plug in any scan tool ($50 hand held)
crank motor over , see if RPM shows up, if not then CMP is dead.
read the scan tools DTC codes, is the ECU complaining of bad sensors. ( this is #2 after fuses) do not work on cars with no scan tool, this is a waste of time, and money.
no start or better no spark. if really true.
sometimes mech think there is no spark but the cam belt slipped
or the cam is not even spinning, dizzy rotor dead, dont turn.
or the coil really does have spark and dizzy timing is way off.
Dizzy clamp bolt, loose? bad spark wires, connected backwards.

It could be the crank sensor. It is a long shot that both coil packs would go out at the same time. Check to see if you have spark at cylinder #1 and cylinder #3. If you don't have spark at any plug, it might be the crank sensor. And that is located on the front of the block to the right of the exhaust manifold.
ALSO, check your fuse box inside the car. It will be on the left bank. ECU/TCU 10 amp fuse. Make sure that it's not blown. That is the problem I am tracking down myself.
