I have the same problem...bleach my whites in one load only to have bleach spots show up on the next load (usually my darks or delicates). I think I will stop using the bleach dispenser and add the bleach directly in the tub when I start the water.I have the same problem...bleach my whites in one load only to have bleach spots show up on the next load (usually my darks or delicates). Yes, I have the same problem for 2 years, so many pieces of clothes ruined by the bleach spots, Whirpool customer service says they are not aware of any problem with this machine, that maybe I am putting too much bleach, I don't think so. I also hate this $1000 machine. DO NOT BUY IT!

I also have a Whirlpool Washing machine and I have been getting bleach spots on my dark loads of clothes also. Even thought the bleach dispenser will be completely empty when I start the load, the bleach is still coming from somewhere.I also have a Whirlpool Washing machine and I have been getting bleach spots on my dark loads of clothes also. It should be okay to use dry bleach, if you follow the instructions on the bleach. Some bleaches require dissolving in water first, others can be used dry.
I'm no repairman but here's a coupla thots: 1 - try running an empty load after bleaching. Save money and just use cold water. First add a few cups of water to the bleach dispenser to help flush out the old bleach that might remain, then run it. 2 - lemon juice is naturally acidic and should neutralize the bleach. You could add some to the bleach dispenser and do the above. Maybe mix a half-cup with a few cups of water and put in the dispenser, then run it. (Lemon juice [or vinegar] is good thing if you get bleach on your hands, too.) OF COURSE -- Test to see if this works with a couple colored rags before running any good clothes through. 3 - How about using oxygen bleach alternatives (color-safe bleach) instead of regular bleach? I suppose there could be a problem with your dispenser, idk....
It sounds like the bleach dispenser is clogged or has a crack in it. What we do, is when we bleach our clothes and I know that this is extra work, but we wait until the washing machine is full of water, then add the bleach directly to the wash.
thanks for the question its possible that the bleach disp is clogged and when its suppose to release the bleach some stays hehind and theres still some left over from the last load i would check that thanks the appliance doc
You can pour the bleach in the drawer every time you do white loads and it will stay clear too! Just flush it out good before you do colored clothes or you may get a small bleach spot on a red shirt ! Neil Ps. Give me a problem solved rating here on fixya.com
1. Place a load of sorted clothes into the washer. See “Laundry
Tips.”
■ Load evenly to maintain washer balance. Mix large and
small items. Items should move easily through the wash
water.
■ Load only to the top of the basket as shown. Overloading
can cause poor cleaning. Items need to move easily
through the wash water.
2. Pour measured powdered or liquid High Efficiency detergent
into the detergent dispenser. Always use the detergent
dispenser, and do not put detergent directly onto clothes in
the washer.
3. Add color-safe bleach (powdered or liquid) to this dispenser,
if needed. Be sure to match powdered color-safe bleach with
powdered detergent or match liquid color-safe bleach with
liquid detergent.
4. Pour measured liquid chlorine bleach into the liquid chlorine
bleach dispenser, if needed. Bleach is diluted and
automatically dispensed at the proper time during the wash
cycle.
■ Do not overfill. Do not dilute. Do not use more than 1 cup
(250 mL) for a full load. Use less with a smaller load size.
■ Follow the garment and the chlorine bleach
manufacturer’s directions for proper use.
■ To avoid spilling, use a cup with a pouring spout. Do not
let bleach splash, drip, or run down into the washer basket.
■ At the end of the cycle, a small amount of water may be
left in the dispenser. This is normal.
NOTE: Use only liquid chlorine bleach in this dispenser.
5. Pour measured liquid fabric softener into the fabric softener
dispenser, if desired.
■ Do not overfill. The dispenser holds 3 oz (94 mL), or a
capful of fabric softener.
■ The fabric softener is dispensed in the final rinse. If Extra
Rinse is selected, the fabric softener will be dispensed
during the Extra Rinse.
■ Do not spill or drip any fabric softener onto the clothes.
■ At the end of the cycle, a small amount of water may be
left in the dispenser. This is normal.
NOTE: Use only liquid fabric softener in this dispenser.
6. Close the washer lid.
7. Press POWER. This turns on the washer display.
8. Select a Wash Cycle. See “Cycles.”
9. Select the desired Modifiers. See “Modifiers.”
10. Select an Option, if desired. See “Options.”
11. Select Delay Wash, if desired. See “Delay Wash” in the
“Modifiers” section.
12. Press START. The wash cycle begins, and the display shows
the estimated remaining time. The lid will lock.
NOTE: If you do not press Start within 5 minutes of pressing
Power, the washer automatically shuts off.
The way that I read the manual, your color safe bleach would go in the detergent dispenser. Your liquid chlorine bleach would go in the bleach dispenser.
Hi, I have a top loading Kenmore Elite washer (don't know model #) from
the year 2002. It has the automatic bleach dispenser. The problem is
that if someone has washed clothes with bleach sometime during the day
and someone else comes along and washes dark clothes, the clothes get
ruined with dot bleach stains. It appears that the bleach remains in
the washer. Any tips or do I need to buy a new washer? Any help would
be greatly appreciated. Thank you V.C.My problem is similar to that which VCasabona
is having. Not just dots occur but often big splotches. It may not even
be just a colored load following whites on the same day but, on
occasion, it occurs on the next laundry day, a week later with the
first load that is not the whites with bleach. Also, my wife adds the
bleach to the filled washer (old school, I guess), rather than pouring
into the dispenser. My water pressure, which is not at issue, is not
what I need to address to remedy the situation. I have noted that the
ledge that is part of the floating tub had some build-up of deposits,
some of which may have been bleach. These I've reached in with damp
cloths and removed as best I can. I've run full, empty loads through
hoping this would flush out any lingering bleach. Because the occurrences run intermittently
from infrequently to frequently I cannot be sure if any of my attempts
to remedy the problem are having any effect. I've guessed at the model
# of the Kenmore top load washer we own since Dec of 1999
Sounds like some water is remaining in the tub after the pump gets done emptying the washer. So its the pump! The Kenmore Elite is a good washer and I believe worth fixing! Unless the cost is half the price of the cost of a replacement.
