If the red light won't come on it is not getting power.First, try plugging it in to a different outlet,or unplug one of the gadgets you know is working and plug the tv in there. You are simply switching. If you know that there is power coming from the outlet and it still won't come on then you'll have to check the cord;don't go much farther than that without expert help.
Hi, I can suggest you few ways to check why it wont turn on
Please try pluggin in different wall sockets to check if the previous wall socket has gone bad Please check the power LED, If it is on then there is power supply, somewhere inside the TV the connection must be lost... These are the suggestions i can give as i dono the TV model and name :)
for first unplug the main power cord of the tv for couple of minutes and then reconnect it.also before reconnecting the power cord of the tv again remove all the external device wires connected at its back such as dvd player/vcr etc etc.just connect only tv wire and check out.if still the same problem then its quite possible that the capacitors and ic on the circuit board are getting short in between so the circuit is not getting completed and cutting in between so the tv power led comes but no picture comes up..in this case the circuit board needs to be checked with a multimeter.the faulty and burned out component part should be detected and then should be replaced with the help of soldering iron.to make it proper.to avoid further damage i suggest you that do not on the tv again and again as it will short some more tiny components and the reparing cost will increase as per that.at present its the normal circuit short problem in the tv get it repaired before using the tv again.
-------- also you can get new replaCEment power supply board.this clears the problem completely. --------- you can get the required board and components at ----- www.partstore.com -------- or from ------ www.radioshack.com ---- --------- if you are not familiar with doing this you can get it done by local tv repair technician familiar with this model tv. ----------- This will help. Thanks for using FixYa. Please check the following— 1. Is Power board output +5V? 2. Is J1 (#19 in the right diagram)connector good? 3. Is DC-DC OK, check the voltage at J1 using a
multimeter. 4. Is U4 (3.3V) working ok, U4 is an IC, you’ll need an
IC tester or an oscilloscope to check this IC. After checking this if it still doesn’t
work then check P3 D-sub Input (on the D-board). See this schematic for
details--

Please plug TV in another power source and turn it ON, if still does not turn ON, unplug AC wire of TV, take off back cover and follow AC cord f TV that will take you in power supply board, find fuse nearby and check is it blew off? if yes, replace it with same ratings written on it. Plug TV in AC wall socket and turn ON, if fuse blow again that means power supply section in TV got problem and need qualified tech to find out and replace components or power board. Thanks.
