Apple iPod nano Logo

Hi. I plugged in my iPod nano 4th generation to charge it. It opened iTunes as it usually does and I could see my iPod in my device list. I left it to charge as normal. I came back a while later and my iPod has seemed to have 'frozen' at the Connected..eject before disconnecting screen. I note that at the top of the ipod display the time has frozen also. Please help!! I can't turn the iPod off or acess any menus or anything - it's frozen! I have an Apple Ipod Nano 4th Gen. 8gb. I switched it off and then put it on charge. I then tried to disconnect it after about 2 hours but it wouldn't work. I then removed the cable from the computer and from the iPod. But the same screen was there-"Connected, eject before disconnecting". I then plugged the cable back into the ipod and the computer, but it wouldn't show up in My Computer or in iTunes. Please help me!!!

Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps!

My ipod nano (4th Generation) will not charge or register to iTunes and every time I plug it in this sparking or cracking noise happens... any ideas?

It sounds like your cable may be damaged or have a short in it. You should be careful because you could potentially damage your ipod. You can go to this link at the apple store to find information on a replacement. You can also have problems charging or syncing your ipod if the cable is not an original apple product, but is made by a 3rd party manufacturer

Won't turn on

Is your iPod fully charged? Sometimes the batteries become so depleted of charge that an accessory charger won't turn it on.

-Try plugging it in to your computer or a wall charger for a while, time will vary but it may turn on.

-If it is not turning on your computer will never recognize it, thus you won't be able to do a restore with iTunes.

-Try a hard restart as well this could help you.

I need to know how to change my ipod back from auto sync to manualfor 8g ipod nano 4th generation

On Mac or PC, it's the same... This is a preference setting in iTunes.
Open iTunes software, from the left top menu called iTunes, drop down to "preferences" then choose "devices" check off where it says "prevent ipods and iphones from syncing automatically"

The other spot to make sure you are controlling the music manually is;
Plug in sync cable, your ipod shows up on left column in iTunes, at the summary tab (default view) it shows a window on your screen that has three sections: ipod model, version and on the bottom it has "options" be sure to check off "manually manage music & videos." remember you can drag songs directly onto your ipod icon. (on a Mac anyway) Good luck.

I have an ipod nano 3rd generation and it won't unlock

1. Plug the ipod USB cable into the bottom of the iPod Nano.
2. Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into a free USB port on a Mac or PC computer.
3. Open the iTunes application by clicking on the Dock icon on a Mac or using the Start menu on a PC.
4. Click on the name of your iPod Nano under the "Devices" list in the iTunes window.
5. Click on the "Sync" button to establish a connection between your iPod and the computer.
6. Click on the eject symbol next to your iPod's name after the syncing process has finished.
7. Unplug your iPod Nano. The device will be unlocked and you will be able to access all normal features again.
