SOURCE: Cannot start Sony VAIO PCG-5J2L /Goes to black screen only

During start-up the computer will go to a black screen for awhile and then the pointer arrow will show alone, and then the system will come up.

If you think it's a hibernation problem, pull the ac plug and battery out for about 1 hour and then plug back in.

If this didn't work, then try the F8 Key and choose "Last Know Good Configuration".

SOURCE: white blank on acer 4315

Hi,
It sounds like a Bios issue.

Go to http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_4315.html
Download the latest Bios for the windows you are currently running and follow the Readme.txt and update the bios.
Hopefully this will fix the issue that is connect with the monitor and power setting in the bios.

Please Rate, Thanks.

How to replace Sony Vaio PCG-61A12L Screen

Hello.

Almost all the Sony Vaio regular laptop screens are replaced the same way. The Model PCG-61A12L is one of the regular ones. I suggest using the replacement instruction at http://www.laptopscreenonline.com/sony-laptop-screens-16-c.asp

Hope that helps.

Hello sir, Hi, unless we find a replacement cd drive for your laptop. I don't see how this goes. you see, the laptop you have does not support boot from USB drives, (see setup on the bios first boot, hopefully theres a usb boot option, if not you may opt for a WINME install.) so its useless to use the internal CD rom drive.

Hello
These symptoms are not the inverter problem, What can you do if the laptop LCD screen turned completely white? From my experience I can tell that this problem may be related to the following: 1. Loose connection between the video cable and the LCD screen. 2. Defective LCD screen. 3. Defective motherboard (I assume the graphics card is integrated into the motherboard).
Check these by yourself or get assistance from sony support.

Screen is white

You could have a video controller problem or a LCD screen problem, what you are seeing is the backlighting but no video information.
To check if you have a video problem, connect an external monitor to your laptop and bootup your laptop, if you see Windows booting up the external monitor then the video controller is OK, and your problem is the LCD screen or the video cable connection on the motherboard (may need reseating).
If you cannot fix the LCD screen then use your laptop with an external monitor.

Sony vaio freezes at welcome screen

Boot to safe mode by hitting the F8 key on boot. When in safe mode, go to a dos prompt and type MSCONFIG and hit the enter key.
1b36c9d.jpg
In there, select DISABLE ALL near the bottom right and click on OK. You will receive a message that the system must be restarted. Restart it. If the system comes up, you will have a prompt that the system is using a modified boot. Just check off the check mark area and continue. You can then enter MSCONFIG and start enabling things until it locks up again and then you will know that, that is the program causing all the problems.

If that doesn't solve the problem, you may need to reload the OS.
