Good Afternoon Leszek - Thank you for your question. Based on the symptoms you are describing it sounds like the unit has a faulty timer or a potential wiring failure. Try reprogramming the unit by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker to the off position. It is important to wait approximately ten minutes and then turn on the unit. If issue persists, then at this point I strongly suggest reaching out to a professional that can accurately diagnose and repair the washer.

You need a new front controller board part # el1347360
I believe the selector knob on a Whirpool just has to be turned counter-clockwise with the selector pushed in. It will spin off the shaft and then the outer indicator dial will pull off. The shaft also has a keyed slot that will only allow the dial to be removed and installed one way, so there should be no question as to how it goes back on.
Was there a reason as to why you are removing the washer selector knob? If this is a simple matter of replacing a broken water temperature selector, you shouldn't have to remove any of the control knobs to gain access to the selector. The entire front panel comes off by removing the screws holding it in place. That way you can access the broken selector from behind the front panel much easier. Just remove the panel right above the washer top (under the dryer) and it should expose the front panel mounting screws. Remove these screws and the front panel comes off. Just make sure the unit is unplugged before you begin. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Ok mc we need a timer at this point. You see the timer doing several steps different than before.
SOURCE: amana washer only works on delicate cycle
Open the control panel. Unplug the timer and then plug it back in good and firm.
If it does not work correctly after that,
Replace your timer.

Good afternoon friend, that's a great question!
I understand that you are trying to replace the selector knob on your Frigidaire washer, GLTF2940E. Normally this is not a DIY job and we would recommend having a technician come out to the home in order to properly disassemble your front panel and replace the selector knob as needed. Hope this is helpful. -Matt
