Stove top ignition doesn't stop ticking

Our stove top is a CREDA gas/glass cooktop. All of a sudden the ignition switch doesn't stop ticking. It only goes off when we either unplug the power supply or one of the burners (#1) is ignited. If the other burners are ignited it continues ticking.

My Dacor cooktop had a similar problem of continuously clicking igniters. I unplugged it a couple months ago and used a piezoelectric igniter to get it started. Then I looked in the Dacor FAQ and it said to clean the ceramic igniter posts with alcohol not water. I had to scrape some gunk off a couple of the posts with a knife before cleaning with alcohol. Now it works.'

I think the igniters use electrical conductivity to detect when they need to spark, so even slight invisible contamination on the igniter insulator can confuse the sensing system. Also they all seem to fire as a group, so all of them need to be clean because if any one of them is dirty then they will all malfunction.

Unfortunately this didn't work for me. I thought it made sense, since the problem began after Christmas cooking from several cooks (lots of frying style breakfasts). I had already thoroughly cleaned - even vacuumed beneath the ignition switches. The clicking is driving me crazy!

My ignition for the gas cooktop is clicking without being in the on positoin. will this be caused by cleaning with water? is it going to cause problems?

One of your burner ignition switches is fried. To see which one it is you remove a wire from each one till the ticking stops. Or plan be just unplug the stove and light it with a match.

The ignition keeps ticking on my new electrolux cooktop after it's lit. This affects all burners. It did not do it when first installed, started a few months later. Affects all burners, sometimes it stops...

the igniter switch is sticking from burned on grease, or other residue. if you know how to get to the switch. you can soray some wd-40 right on the switch let it set for a little while.30 min. then rotate the knob back and forth a few times and it should unstick...if not call a serviceman. your stove is under warranty.....goodday.
