I have a external harddrive that when you plug it into the playstation it won't read it. I have 2 ps3's and they both used to work but when I updated it now neither of them will pick it up. I have the folders marked properly by usually it would say USB device on the pull down and it doesn't.

Hook up the external to your USB port and copy everything over. I had to do that when I installed a larger hard drive in my PS3

Hi, it sounds like your laser either needs cleaning or is shot. First try cleaning the laser by blowing some canned air into it and see if that helps. It usually isn't the problem. If it dosen't then there is a very good chance your laser is broke and needs replaced. This is a very common problem with the PS3's. It starts by not reading certain discs then eventually it won't read anything at all. I would take it to a game repair shop and have the laser replaced. If you want to do it your self (its pretty simple really) it will save you some $$$ and you will have it back sooner. I will be more than happy to walk you through replacing the laser if you choose to do it yourself.

Hi mate I read my nephew's booklet, apparently you have to go on the internet and download a program from the Sony website and write it on a cd, then you run the cd inside the ps3 and it should format the cd and load the system files on it.
Alternatively if you are not prepared to wait 20hrs for it to format, pop it into a computer with SATA compatibility and format it FAT32 (not NTFS your PS3 will not be able to access it), you will be able to save all your games and mp3 and videos on your new hardrive.

There may be any Software that is causing conflict. In this case, you can try installing the Software on a Computer with a very few applications installed on it. Or, you can uninstall all the unnecessary applications from the Computer and then try installing it.

I think you need to group them by albums
on a picture hit triangle then choose discription and change the album to whatever foldername you want and then under the main "picture folder"
hit square and choose sort by album this will create sub folders with the album name as the folder name.
