Have treied everything. Left the machine off tried the door wont open. Tried Pushing in then pulling as some have suggested still wont open. Have tried the child lock still wont open. No lock is present at all. It was working. Took the clothes out shut the door went to use it the next day and it is locked. Please help
Door lock sounds like its broken, you will need to remove the two screws on the back of washer top and remove the top. (power off) now as you look at washer from the front you will see a round object with a pipe. remove the pipe and see if the door opens. this is just to check to see if its this part stopping the door to be open, you are going to need to use a flat blade to push the pin in the lock you should see the pin as this stops the door from being open. the part looks like this https://www.ebay.com/i/253266384384?rt=nc if the door is slammed or banged, it can damage the lock, easy to replace when the you can open the door. wiring plug only fits one way.

In my case this problem was caused by a broken handle in the door assembly. I agree with dovi that you can release the catch from inside the machine if you remove the soap dispenser unit. You can then remove the door and disassemble it to see if the plastic trigger is broken.
If the door handle is broken you cannot exert any force on the metal catch - you think you are triggering the mechanism but you are not.

sometimes you just have to force the door but first try hitting the machine near the door lock sometimes this helps the door interlock may be stuck in the closed position

Hi, I don't know if this is much help to you now as it has been a while since you posted your problem. I had the exact same problem and after a lot of swearing and 2 days and no help what so ever from LG I took matters into my own hands.
I took the top off the the machine and removed the small steel plate, you will know what I am talking about after you have done the same.
I had my hubby hold the tub back as far as possible and used a screw driver to release the latch which is at the front of the machine about half way down. You will see a small silver steel knobby looking thing. After the machine was finally opened I unscrewed the screws on the inside of the door and used a flat screw driver to prise the housing apart. Be careful not to drop the glass window as when the housings start coming apart the window is no longer secure.
I found that a small piece of plastic on the handle had perished and broken not allowing the correct function. A phone call to Sunstate spare parts got the new handle to me within a few days at a cost of $20.95.
My only problem now is putting the bloody thing back together. I have been at it for 3 days with no sucess. If you manage to work out how to put yours together please let me know. I hope this has helped and hasnt come too late.

We have a WM-1480FHD, with the door stuck shut. It appears the door release mechanism in the actual door has broken, so when you pull the lver part, the catch is not released. You need to get a very flat knife,insert between the door and the front of the machine, right in the middle behind the release handle and push the hook towards the right side of the machine.Once open, you can check the release mechanism in the actual door. Ours is broken, so need to sort out how to repair/replace it next!

Something has caused the washer to not release the door. Is there an error code that is flashing (FE?). A locked door can be due to too much water in the basket, suds causing false water detection (should be using HE), or perhaps the drain is clogged.
If you are sure that the water is not going to spill out on floor, then you might be able to get door open by unplugging the unit and waiting a few minutes (mine took an hour) for the electric lock to release.
