Pretty easy to replace the screen, i suggest buy SD300 from ebay that has lens problem, but it is known for sure that screen is working, you might find one for $20-30, also look for SD200 you might find it cheaper and it uses the same screen as your SD300

Broken screen

If the camera is fully functional other than the screen, then yes the LCD screen can be replaced, you can order the part yourself from a Canon dealer if you wanted to do the job, or let them handle the repair with an estimate.

How much screen 4 lxus30 canon

Ebay.com is the best place to look for. If you buy the LCD itself it is usually expensive. For example, Try the following email. They replace the LCD: [email protected]

But I would suggest you to buy a used camera (one sold for parts, with good LCd) through ebay.com and replace it yourself. You only need to buy a jewellers screwdriver set for $1 from Dollar store. Removing the case is easy (5-6 screws). Once the case is removed, LCD is immediately accessible.

You can buy any one of the cameras:
Canon IXUS 30 40 50 SD200 SD300 SD400

They all use the same LCD. So look in ebay.com for the above cameras. You may be able to get it for under $10-15. But before you do anything look at the following web sites to get an idea on how to do the job:

LCD shows MEMORY LOCKED even thought card is NOT LOCKED!

Go thru all the pages on the camera setup in the camera. You may find a memory lock conrol. That is there to keep you from accidently erasing photos.

Hi....
Canon parts and repair service is excellent. All the parts of canon powershot is readily available in the market for reasonable price.

For your reference i am giving you the site where they take up these kind of problems.
the website is " http://www.mcvr.com/canon_powershot.htm#LCD ".

Replacing a broken or cracked LCD display screen:
  • Powershot A Series: $90 for most all models (a few dollars less on some)
  • Powershot S Series (S30 - S80, S100-S500, S1-IS, S2-IS): $90 for most models (a few dollars less on some)
  • Powershot SD200, SD300, SD400, SD630: $100 (the LCD for these models is more expensive)
  • All other Powershot SD Series models (including SD700IS and 800IS): $90
  • Powershot G2, G3: $90. Some other G series Powerhot models cost $10-20 more because of the higher parts cost.
The above price list is from the mentioned website.Hope my info is useful.
Bye.

Cannon sd400 power shot

Sounds to me like you have a broken LCD screen. This is unfortunately very common in the SD200, SD300, and SD400 cameras. Because an LCD display is made up of a few sheets of very thin glass, they tend to break rather easil and then the "dye" leaks out, hence your feather pattern.

If you feel up to taking your camera apart, you can purchase a replacement screen on eBay for around $60-$80. If you don't feel up to trying to replace it yourself there are people on eBay who offer repair services for broken LCDs and they typically charge between $80-$100.

SD300 Monitor Problem

This sounds like a cracked LCD screen. If so, it requires replacement. There are many sites available on the web that will do this for you for a fee.

It is also possible to fix it yourself if you can find a replacement screen, and if you are familiar with basic electrical safety (there's a flash capacitor inside your camera that can give you such a ZAP!).
