Gui page SECURITY CODE FOR WIFI ROUTER

Needs to be changed in the GUI

Opening up the GUI:
1) Open up any browser
2) Put 192.168.1.254 in as the URL and hit enter
3) Search for wireless settings
4) Change Network Access key
5) If that's greyed out then you might have to change the security settings to WPA-PSK

Note: If it asks you the for the Network Device Code, that can be on the sticker on the side of the router.

you need to access the router's GUI page to change the security key of the routers/
remember, once you change the security key, it should be changed in all the devices you got connected wireless.
you can access the GUI page by typing either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 (most of the routers have this default setting) in address bar of internet explorer.
you can find the exact numbers by going to start>run>type "cmd">type "ipconfig">enter
you will see the default gateway number which is the one you need to type in a address bar of the internet explorer. (these steps work only if you get the computer connected with the Ethernet cable first to the router)
once you access the gui page, you have an option to change the wireless key under wireless section>security.
need to mention that when you access the GUI page, you will be welcomed by a username and password log in option. the default username and password again is admin in most cases. if it doesn't work ,check with the manual of the router you got.

Go to the linksys website, see if they have a firmware flash for the router, that may help in some connectivity issues. You may also find that the ipad/iphone may drop connections when battery levels are low

Is there any computer online using the router.
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router.
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
router set up page is the page where you can check all the router settings.
On this page you will get the option for wireless security settings. You can change the wireless network key. It will be better to change the wireless network name also.
Make sure that your computer will be connected to the router with the cable.

You need to login into your router GUI for that.

1. access your router's GUI:
click on internet explorer, type in the address bar: 192.168.1.254, then click on GO or ENTER
it will bring up NETWORK AT A GLANCE PAGE OR THE GUI
now at the top page click on HOME NETWORK, then click on WIRELESS SETTINGS or EDIT STTINGS (it'll asked you to enter a system password. if you cant remember it just click on 'I forgot my password and it'll give you a clue. and f you still cant remember you can click on 'I still cant remember my password and this this time it'll allows you to change it but first you have to enter the sytsem key that can be found at the bottom part of the modem under the bar code the one inside the parenthesis its a total of 10 numbers)
Now, just click on home network and wireless settings again then it'll bring up IDENTIFY NETWORK PAGE.
change the network name to your last name or any name, then for the wireless channel, change it to 10, make sure its WEP-OPEN, then select use custom pass phrase then enter 10 numbers that would serve as your wireless pw. then at the bottom part find power setting then change it to 10, then clicked on SAVE.
now on your ipod try to find the network name the you created then if it asked you for the wep key or pw...that's gonna be the 10numbers that you're about to create on the GUI.

If your Ipod touch will not 'find' your Belkin N router - or it did and then vanished forever try this- it worked for me.
1.Turn wifi off on your computer, ensure you have the latest firmware on your router,reset the router to factory default.Do this using a wired connection from the admin page.
2. Change the SSID name from what it was previously say from Belkin xyz to my router.
3. Power down the router wait about 30 seconds then power it back up.
4. As you reset to factory setting you will need to put in your internet access info again - do this from the admin page. Also set up your security at the same time.
5. Restart the router from the admin page.
6. Unplug wired connection start wifi and connect to your computer -make sure that you have full internet access from you computer - dont forget you need to connect to the newly renamed router.
7. Take ipod and make sure wifi is off.
8. Clear network settings.
9.Turn wifi on and it should find your newly renaned router - join and enter your pass key.

Why it does it I have no idea neither do Belkin or Apple but it worked for me - a trial and error solution !

In your router WEP or WAP security enabled so it ask for password.
For that follow below.
connect your router to computer with ethernet cable.
Then you can access it with following link.
for belkin routers http://192.168.15.1
for other routers
http://192.168.1.1
or
http://192.168.0.1


type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password"
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Then click wifi or wireless settings There is WEP or WAP security enable note down that code if it is in * or # format then add new code then save settings and restart router.
That code is your password to connect wifi.

The WEP number is a security code that is programmed into your wireless router through the web configuration page to prevent unauthorized access to your internet.

If this is your wireless network then you must have input the security code (its most probably 64bit meaning ten alpha-numeric digits).

log onto the router and under the wireless security tabs change your password to a new one and you should be able to use the wifi after that with the new password , also you will have to reconnect any pcs that use the wifi to the router using the new password
