I have a laptop (Toshiba) one year ago it broke the problem was something landed on the keyboard and the computer stopped working. Now one year later i have bought a IDE/SADA to usb cord with power supply for both. when i use the cord on an IDE hard drive the jumpers need to be off and the computer will recognize the hard drive as ''mass storage from USB''. however when i use my old laptops SADA drive it says ''Not Initialized''. I know this problem not to be as a result of a defective hard drive because my new laptop that is only one year old works, and when i try this with its hard drive the same thing happens. I have tried it to connect the hard drives (new and old) on two different computers thinking maybe it was the computer, however this does not seem to be the case. both computers are running vista i made sure all the cords including power where connected, I have even searched the internet to find that i am not the only one that is having this problem with this hard drive model number is hts541080g9sa00. I hope you can help me I would like to be able to use the hard drive and am hoping to be able to get some of the old info off of it.

SOURCE: HDD not recognised

HI Your Hard Drive is previously formatted and have done different partition provided by your previous machine where you took this hard drive from. Use "The Partition Magic" Software, it will help you to fix and repartition your hard drive in the new format. I have this problem before and now my hard drive can connect with any computer. The key in this issue is any hard drive goes with the original machine has been formatted and do its own partition from manufacturer so if you take it out later for use with other machine, you will need a software to completely rearrange the new partition in universal format so other computers can recognize it. This manufacturer purpose to protect your data from hacking, stealing once you take it out from the original machine. That is why when you connect it to other machine, this hard drive will not be recognized. I has this partition magic software and can make you a copy so you don't have to buy it. Just read the instruction and you can fix it for both 2.5" and 3.5" HD. Please email me at [email protected] and provide me your mailing address, I can send the copy software to you. Regards, pingping

I cannot get laptop keys and mouse to werk no function keys toshiba qosmiox870 invidia sease no driver willnot downlode so what can i do to get this laptop to go

It should automatically download and keep the keyboard and touchpad updated. If this has all stopped working, I would venture to say that something has been spilled on it and it needs to be replaced. Keyboards for laptops are inexpensive, and not too terribly hard to replace. You can try an external mouse and keyboard to see if it will work, but it defeats the mobile theory.

The keyboard on my Toshiba laptop suddenly lost the letters T & E function. All the other keys are working. I bought the laptop from Radio Shack 9 months ago. Is there some way to solve the problem?

Nah - not much you can do. The keyboard's gone bad. Most new Toshiba laptops have a year's warranty, so you should call them and have them replace it for free.

Freezing/Power Problem

I had the same problem since last week. I suspected the RAM (the add-on 1GB RAM which I installed when I bought my Portege 2 years ago). I removed the addon RAM, could be easily done from the bottom side. I appears to be alright. I am still testing. However, please let me know if you have an addon RAM? If yes, could you please remove and try? Let me know the result by mailing to [email protected].

@ key not working in toshiba laptop

has it ever worked?
it could be that your are pressing the wrong combination buttons or that if its a laptop with a spanish keyboard, the keyboard settings is kind of wrong..

to check if its the keyboard settings, go to control panel and look for something that has to do with lenguaje.. there you can set up the lenguaje you want..

hope that helped..
