Router that cannot be PING can be cause by several problem, first that you need to make sure is that your computer computer is getting a valid ip address from the router. Then if you do have a valid ip from the router make sure you have your security software disable for the meantime because they can block that.
If still not working the last thing to do is to reset the rouetr to factory default and then try it again.

Packet loss slow internet dell

If you loose packet when you ping your router, is or your router or your network card who made the problem. Try to ping your router with an other computer. If you still lose packet is the router otherwise is you network card. When you know where's the problem you can change the faulty device.

Check the computer's network interface card by opening the command prompt and typing ping 127.0.0.1 If you get back 4 replies 100% then ping router's and modem's IP addresses. If all are working. I have bought an Epson Artisan 835 printer & can't get it to connect wirelessly to a Billion Router (BiPAC 7300G).This router is connected wirelessly to my i-Mac. I currently have the printer...

1) Please check your router setup whether it does not allow Wireless devices to ping against each other;
2) If it does not allow to ping (communicate) with each other, please disable it first.
3) Then please check your Epson wireless setup whether the DHCP function is enabled; if not, please enable it;
4) Please also input your network gateway, sub-net mask correctly into the Epson printer, otherwise the wireless communication with your network will not work.
5) Then switch off your printer and turn on again to recognize the new settings; and it should work

I can't connect through network can't connect by pinging

Can you ping your router?
If you can, log into it and see if you have any problems with it. If you have ADSL, you will see the status of the line as well as whether you are connected or not. You may have a diagnostic feature that will test the connection to your provider.

If you have lost DNS with your provider, you will not be able to ping using names, only by IP addresses.

I am trying to set up security on my wireless router, NETGEAR instructions say to go to HTTP://192.186.0.1 but I get an error message and cannot go further. Do you have a FAQ on this?

You need to make sure it is connected by Ethernet cable and go to address http://192.168.0.1
Username: admin
Password: password

If that fails try doing
Start > All Programs > Accesories > Comand Prompt (Right click and run as administrator for Windows 7 & Vista) > Type Ping 192.168.0.1
You are looking for it to say Ping Statistics
Send 4
Recived 4
Lost 0
That will tell us if your computer is communicating with your router correctly.

I have installed dlink 1016 10/100 Switch I have two computers and one dsl router connected to this switch but i am facing slow internet problem. when i connect my pc directly with router it works fine...

you'll probably find the router is set up to ignore ping requests, most are by default, for better results, try pinging a website and compare the results both with and without the switch. The switch shouldn't make any noticable difference to your connections, I use one and there's not perceivable difference in performance.

I am unable to browse iternet, it showing massage that cannot connect for an unknown reasons please check your internet setting and change them if needed . currently i am using htc touch diamond (cdma)

Hi,

There could be many reasons for your problem.
1. If you use proxy server, make sure the server and the service are up and running
2. If you use proxy server check the Internet options and look for the correct values in the required fields.
3. If you use wireless router check the connection to the router.
4. If you use router check the network configurations. Many of the routers have internet connection test. So login localy to the router interface and check the connection.
5. If everything above is correct try pinging a website from cmd. Open command prompt Start->Run->cmd. Write the command "ping www.google.com" (without the quotes). If you have ping look for application that blocks the http traffic on port 80. If the result is "Request timed out" try to ping 209.85.148.104. If you cannot ping any site or computer outside your network, then you have to call your provider.
