We could probably help you if you would repost this with the full model number from the tag in the cooking cavity or elsewhere on the oven.
Excellent job on detailing the symptoms though!
Just be sure to include them in your repost, too.

SOURCE: GE Monogram Convection oven ZET837SB1SS

I would suspect a couple of wires are crossed.

GE puts mini-manuals in their units, which have wiring diagrams, schematics, etc. Very handy.

It will be folded up in a small envelope, usually behind the control panel or hidden elsewhere. That should help you.

SOURCE: Microwave oven comes on when

It sounds like either a bad door switch or door switch mount, or a sticking relay on the control panel.

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or occasionally a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:.

SOURCE: REPLACING DOOR HANDLE

You have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

If the switch mount is broken, it's usually more economical and safer to add a dab or two of hot glue to the mount to secure the switch. Let it cool for about 30 minutes before using.

R-820js wont heat

see this causes and fix it .God bless you
f the microwave will not work at all, make sure power is on at the outlet and test the electrical cord. Test the fuse and replace it if it is faulty. Also check the door to make sure it closes properly. Test and, if needed, replace the fan. If the oven doesn't cook or cooks only intermittently but the display is on, check the door interlock switch, the thermal cutout (see the Applaince Controls Fix-It Guide), and the fan, replacing parts that don't pass the test.
If the oven keeps blowing fuses, check for a faulty door interlock or monitor switch.

I ordered and received a replacement door for my 2002 spacemaker ge microwave. The lady I spoke with said I would be able to install it myself. I figured there would be directions in the box explaining...

HELLO.

Below is the solution to replace your microwave door.

Unplug the oven from the outlet and/or shut off the gas valve. Open the old door completely and unlock the hinges by pushing the hinge out toward you and down toward the door. Slightly close the door and lift the door up and toward you.

Install the new door. Make sure the wall oven door hinges are aligned to go into the rectangular wall oven slots. Place the hinges into the slots. The hinges should "catch" on the slots comfortably.

Ensure the door is fully opened and push the hinge locks into an upright position. The two hinge locks should rest on top of the two hinges that are inserted in the wall oven slots.

Close the door and open it several times to make sure the door is properly opening and closing. Replug the oven back into the outlet and/or turn the gas valve back on.

Thanks.

My Sharp R-1870F microwave in our rv heats intermittantly and the turn table is stuck. Any advice?

Hello,

Check the oven door if it locks up, the oven has an automatic feature that when it is not closed properly it won't initialize. Since it heats up intermittently I think the heating capabalities of the microwave is still good, and this problem might be just due to something that is preventing it to operate. which most likely the the locks of the door.

Sharp 930 AK Convection/Microwave Oven

When you close the oven door the latches operate a couple of interlock switches that control power. It may be that one of the door switches is bad or out of adjustment. It's also possible that one of the door latches is broken so it's not hitting the switch. There should be two door latches. Are they both there? This oven could be fixed by adjusting or replacing the interlock parts as needed. Because of concerns about microwave leakage from an improper door seal, you should have this oven serviced by a professional.
