You probably just need a new Shear Pin. This is just a small steel pin like a nail that goes through the gear and the drive shaft. If the strain on the final drive exceeds specs, the pin shears through and thereby saves damage to the gears and motor.
After looking at several sites the mixer ranges from around the 300.00 range some have it for 240.00 this link has it advertised on Ebay for 185.00 http://www.ebay.com/ctg/KitchenAid-Artisan-KSM150PS-325-Watts-Stand-Mixer-/69779042 . If you were to buy the mixer new from a store it would run you around 340.00. if you have any further questions message me back Thanks

It could be very easy. It maybe you have a the brush in the
wrong way round or they have simply run out. They are on the sides under the black plastic caps. Although they will fit in the hole any one of 4 ways
round, there is a key on one corner which means it will only go in one
direction. Use a torch to look into the hole before you put it back in. They shoud look like this : brush
