SOURCE: 1996 Chevy S10 4x4 - Dash lights need replacing
not easy, you have to remove bottom plastic from underneath the dash, there should be two or three you don't have to go to the passenger side, then the front contour snaps off bring your shifter arm al the way down to 1st gear and the steering colomn as well on that plastic contour you have the 4x4 switch to unplug, rear wiper switch, light switch, and rear hatch switch, wiggle the plastic out, now you should see the instrument cluster there should be two to 4 screws holding that in should be 7 mm screws, now careful, if you have the analog cluster you have the speedmeter cable in back to unclip, if digital odometer it's plugged in directly into the dash and there could be an additional plug on top of the cluster, if the cluster came out unclip the backing and you should see the back of the bulbs but careful some are twist off and many others are soudered on that board you aoto parts counter should have these lights in stock no sweat.... good luck

on the drivers side behind the gas tank under the truck bed.

Did you get gas shortly before the light came on? It's not uncommon for a loose gas cap to set this code. Take the cap off and look at the seal. If it's cracked replace it with a new OEM cap. If not, reinstall it and make sure it's on all the way. Then you can clear the code and see if it comes back.
