WATER AND ICE INSIDE MY FRIG

I HAVE AN ICE MAKER THAT IS NOT HOOKED UP. IN THE TOP OF THE FREEZER JUST TO THE RIGHT OF THE ICE MAKER IS A PLASTIC PIECE ABOUT 2-3 INCHES WIDE THAT GOES FROM THE TOP OF THE FREEZER TO THE BOTTOM OF THE FREEZER. IN THE BOTTOM OF IT WATER FREEZES AND THEN I GUESS PARTIALLY THAWS AND GOES INTO THE FRIG, ON THE SHELVES AND FREEZES. IT ALSO FILLS UP THE BOTTOM UNDER THE BINS AND FREEZES AS WELL. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME. MY FRIG IS NOT THAT OLD BUT MY BOOK IS OF NO HELP. SHERRY

I have the same problem and have defrosted the drain using a similar method. Unfortunately, this continues to happen. Sometimes it goes for months before I have to defrost again, other times its only a matter of weeks. Is there a long term fix?

Could you please locate the model number of your whirlpool refrigerator. Somewhere on door frame on back or inside. I am trying to pull a photo of parts and will be able to help you better if you could. Thanks. Sea Breeze

Most likely whats happening is you have a frozen drain for the defrost cycle. here are step by step instrutions for repair

  • Unplug refrigerator
  • unload food from freezer
  • remove icemaker if present (there are 3 screws remove the one on the bottom and loosen the 2 on top of icemaker then lift it off the 2 screws unplug from wiring harness)
  • remove 2 screws holding rear cover in place
  • move cover to the side or remove from unit altogether
  • defrost any and all ice from bottom of freezer and aluminum drain pan that is now exposed
  • flush drain hole that you will see once ice is cleared with warm water. (sometimes I use a large syringe or turkey baster to forcefully flush hot water thru the drain tube)
  • reassemble in reverse order

These are general instrutions for most top freezer refrigs. but if you need more specific directions dont hesitate to ask Thanks Peyton

I have a frigidaire refrigerator with a top freezer , I put a ice maker in and the water is going to the bottom of the frig but not going up the line to the ice maker , but you can't hear the ice make

if the water is turned on you probably have a bad valve take the line off of the valve
at the back of the refrigerator see if you have water if you do its the valve

Will not dispense ice or water, beeps when lever is pushed, no interior light in frig part. both frig and freezer work, freezer light works

Your inlet tube that goes to the icemaker may be frozen. To Check: Shut off water supply to Fridge, disconnect the water line that goes to the icemaker at top back. Use a flexible item to insert in the water line connection. I used a zip tie. If the flexible item won't all the through to the ice maker, the line is frozen. Thaw out the tube from inside the freezer with a hair dryer. Re-connect everything, you now have ice . . . Solution #2: You may have to replace your "Water Inlet Valve" located at bottom right rear of Fridge. Easy to do, just follow the color codes, be sure and shut off the water.

We are hearing a sound like a clock buzz every 10 minutes. why

If your frig has a factory installed Icemaker and you never hooked it up to your water in your house, the Ice maker is looking for water. Shut off the ice maker by lifting up the metal arm on the ice maker. or unplug it.

Ice maker flooded top freezer compartment

It may be just the water control valve on back of refrigerator. Put tap water in ice maker and lower lever for on. After ice is made, does it drop to tray? At this time when empty is the time the control valve is asked for water. The problem could be in valve on back or the inside ice maker itself. If you can try a few test with me I will help you locate the problem. Let me know what you find as I go through this with you. Sea Breeze

Kenmore frig ice machine doesn't make cube ice

Normally, the ice "cubes" are crescent shaped. The most likely cause for "crushed" ice is that the ice maker isn't getting enough water on its refill cycle after ejecting the tray. Becuase there isn't enough water, the ice looks crushed...it's actually shattered.

Check the water inlet and chute to the ice maker. Sometimes they freeze and have to be manually defrosted. A hair dryer will do the trick. Also check the water chute and be sure it isn't partially frozen.

Start there...if no luck you could also have a failing water filter or sticky water solenoid valve.

Water dripping from somewhere inside the refrigerator

I believe the problem is with the drain line when the frig goes into defrost mode

see if you can trace the drain line that oes into the evaporator pan at the bottom of the frig

facing the frig remove the bottom panel that goes across the front and pull out the evaporator tray to see if it is dry

take a flashlight and see if you can see a plastic tube that the water should be dripping into the pan

try to trace the tube up into the frig ther is some type of catch basin inside the frig on the back panel usually around middle area

If you are not able to find it you can call whrlpol customer service 1-800-253-1301
or call an appliance service enter and as them f they can walk you through the problem

Good Luck

Ice maker not making ice. Water disp inside frig disp water.

the line that gives water to the ice maker, every time the water comes down it lives a drip of water that turns to ice blocking the line, get some hot water and a towel and place the hot wet towel on top of the line intel it melts the ice in side the line. it happens to my frige at list once a year. if that is not the problem the valve that supplies water tho the ice maker needs replacing, it's behind the frige at the bottom, where the line coming from the house meets the frige.

Leaking water

test: first, turn off water supply to frig. then dry up all water. then ensure frig is running at right temperature. now gradually turn on water and observe where leak is. My guess is it is overflowing the ice-maker. there is an adjustment for this. pop off the cover over the end of the ice-maker. look for a screw adjustment. turn it counterclockwise.
