To much water going out when shampooing and not picking any water up.

  • kerrisuebeen Apr 03, 2009

Hey there. I have the same problem with my Kirby shampooer. All the water/soap solution comes out before I am even 1/4 done with the room. Then the area is soaking wet and takes a long time to dry! If you figure this out let me know.

Are you saying that it is not dispensing foam but rather soapy water?

Follow instructions HERE.
If it is soapy water NOT FOAM coming out - make sure suds screen is installed.
If you get mountains of foam and it is absorbed into the rug by the time you are ready to pick it up - maybe you dispensing entire tank of soap before you go to pick it up. Do carpet in 6-10 foot wide sections.

Some carpets (especially Berber) are not easy to get the foam off...

My kirby shampoo is not picking the water up

It is not supposed to pick up water. It creates a foam which you let dry and then vacuum up.

Is the Kirby shampooed supposed to pick up the water after shampooing

No. Shampooing is supposed to crystallize the dirt so you can vacuum it out. It is easy to leave to much soap residue.

My shampooed won't pick up ythe water

does your shampooer have a cap on the shampoo tank. Usually you take the cap off to let the shampoo out while shampooing and to pick up the water you put the cap back on to create a vacuum to suck the water off the floor..

When the shampooer is moved forward to initially to spray the shampoo the plastic guard on the front drags the floor and keeps it from moving forward and shampooing. .

The one's I've used the sprayer is on the back of the suction (suction hood which is kind of clear plastic), you watch that clear part to see if it is picking up dirty water. Recall it's easier to pull it and if caught just push down on handles and that raises front of machine to clear carpet snag. I would walk backward as it sprayed and then picked up the water with dirt. If different machine you could spray moving backward, go back to same starting point go again and don't spray but just hold it near carpet so it picks up the water.

My Kirby shampooer wont foam

Start with the hose OFF the tank (make sure small filter is in place).Fill the tank with water and KIRBY DRY SHAMPOO (other shampoo's wont foam) then turn the vacuum on. At this time the shampoo will come out as a stream of foam. If the shampoo come's out as liquid then you will need to check the tank. If shampoo was left in the tank ,then the pick-up hose inside the tank my be colgged. These are hard to un-clogg so replacement of the tank may be needed.

I cant figure out how to **** up water with my kirby dimond

Vacuuming a wet carpet with your Kirby or any other vacuum not designed for wet pickup could do serious damage to your machine and there is a real danger of electrical shock to the operator.
Your Kirby Diamond and every other Kirby for that matter is NOT designed to pick up water!! Even with the shampoo system attached it will NOT pick up water or the shampoo foam. Your Kirby spreads the shampoo foam around on the carpet to clean it. You then only vacuum a shampooed carpet after it has completely dried.

How do you pick up the suds after shampooing

After dispensing the shampoo. You wait a few minutes. Then you turn 'off ' the shampoo picking the shampoo up. After the carpet is dry you pick up the rest. With the power head.
