I need a manual in order to change out the water

Water filters are usually in the top at the back of the food compartment , it may be behind a box or panel. Check your owners manual. The Owner usually has to change these filters every 6 months or so.

If your refrigerator (refrigerator / freezer?) is one which has a dispenser in the door for cold water and ice, then "filter" means you need to install a new water filter.

You will need to check the user manual for refrigerator regarding what filter to purchase and how to change it.

If you do not have the owner's manual for your refrigerator, then choose Comment and add the make and model number of your appliance so that I or someone else can locate the right manual (PDF format, most likely) for you.

Knowing just who made your Kenmore refrigerator may some day be important because Kenmore does not make the brands they sell. I am going to try to get you as many different ways the water filter can be changed as I can but if you can you locate the model number of your Kenmore it may make things much easier should you need parts or a manual some day. The number should look like this 521.345678 and located around the inside of the fresh food section door.

How to Replace Interior Refrigerator (Filter1) Water Filter

There are several pages that explain dispenser programming. This is on page 10 of the owners manual.

Water Filter Status Light (on some models)

The water filter status light will help you know when to change

your water filter. When the water filter status display changes from

"GOOD" to "ORDER," this tells you that it is almost time to

change the water filter cartridge. Replace the water filter cartridge

when the water filter status display changes to "REPLACE." If

water flow to your water dispenser or ice maker decreases

noticeably, change the filter sooner. The filter should be replaced

at least every 6 months depending on your water quality and

usage.

After changing the water filter, reset the status light by pressing

and holding the FILTER button for 3 seconds. The status light will
change from "REPLACE" to "GOOD" when the system is reset.

Changing the Water Filter

1. Press the eject button to release the filter from the base grille.

2. Pull the filter straight out.

3. Turn the cap counterclockwise to remove it from the filter.

IMPORTANT: Do not discard the cap. It is part of your

refrigerator. Keep the cap to use with the replacement filter.

4. Align the ridge on the cap with the arrow on the new filter and

turn the cap until it snaps into place.

NOTE: You can run the dispenser without a filter. Your water

will not be filtered. Simply insert the cap all of the way into the

base grille and rotate the cap until it is firmly in place.

5. Remove the covers from the O-rings. Be sure the O-rings are

still in place after the covers are removed.

6. Push the filter into the base grille. The eject button will pop

back out when the filter is fully engaged.
7. Flush the water system. See "Water and Ice Dispensers."

Water Filter Status Light:

The water filter status light will help you know when to change your water filter.

When the dispenser control panel's water filter status display changes to "ORDER," this tells

you that it is almost time to change the water filter cartridge.

Replace the water filter cartridge when the water filter status display changes to "REPLACE."

The filter should be replaced at least every 6 months depending on your water quality and usage.

NOTE: If water flow to your water dispenser or ice maker decreases noticeably, change the

filter sooner. After changing the water filter, reset the status light.

Details:

Pressing and holding RESET FILTER starts the 3 seconds countdown. Using the dispenser

cancels the countdown AND no dispensing is permitted. The number '3' blinks 3 times and the

'invalid' tone sounds 3 times and user has to release both the pad and the button and press

the button again to start it over

After 3 seconds, the BLUE WATER BARS in the Icon flash and an audible tone sounds 3
times. When the system is reset, the "ORDER" and "REPLACE" icons will disappear from the

display screen. See figure 16.
Note: Users can reset the filter status at any stage.

check your temp controll to make sure it isnt broken or open circuit also your defrost timer could be stuck in defrost! next check your compressor for running and see if it is hot!! or just warm? if it is just warm and cycling /running then your low on freon due to a internal leak

Check the filter itself , around the end inserted into the housing , to see if it is cracked . I recently install a new housing , due to water leak , and turned out to be the filter itself which was cracked . But , yes , the 2 lines can be purchased from any hardware store ( this type of tubing ) . Just cut a small piece and take with you , so you can get the correct size (s) . Doesn't have to be strictly refrigerator tubing .
