I have the Nuvi 660. When I touch the Map > Map Info buttons it shows the standard pre-loaded map and the Topo map on the SD Card with a checkmark next to each. However, I can't see the Topo terrain when I actually look at the map view.

There should have been a mini USB cable with it to connect to the computer. You should go back to where you got it and ask for one. If that's not possible they can be bought in most computer shops fairly cheaply. Details on how to update your maps are available at http://www.fixya.com/support/r5628920-update_garmin_satnav_maps
Yes, you will need to download the webupdater program from Garmin to get new maps for your Nuvi 200. Transfer the files to your SD memory card and then plug that SD card into your Nuvi 200. Click on the link below to get started
Copy the new maps onto the SD card be sure that the card has enough space on it. ( you might need a SD Card reader ) copy the old maps onto your PC before deleting the SD card, copy all the data into the root folder of your sat nav. hope this helps
You can update mapping software on most sat nav units to take into
account alterations to the road network. Either from your PC, in the
case of portable sat navs; or via your phones GPRS connection, in the
case of phone models. Always check the level of mapping that comes with
your equipment in the first place. Is it up-to-date? . Every couple of years Garmin will release a map update, which you
can get on DVD or download - you've got to pay for it though!
No. They are refering to maps sent from the computer to the Garmin device. Maps are not transferred off the SD card to the unit. Simply insert the SD card into the device and the Garmin will read the maps from the card.
to double check follow these steps

Press Tools
Press Settings
Press Map

I have a 660, and it works fine from the sd card. Make sure the files are .mp3 and that you toggle the source from the mp3 player screen. Can you see the files in browse mode ?
good luck
