that radio is your vehicles security functions and other functions replacement is major important now here in arizona there is a place called dannys oem sterio repair new radios have a security key that the dealer would have to reset so no matter what your going to dealer to set the radio or your car wont start if replaced
Your aftermarket radio should have color-coded wires which identifies power, ground, speakers, etc. most depaetment stores carry a radio harness adapter kit. This will connect to your radio's exact color coded wires, and will plug right in to your factory's wiring plug. And don't forget electrical tape.
Web search "speaker wire" and don't buy (literally) into the BS that there is anything 'magic' about wire when it comes to driving speakers. I use cheap 16-ga lamp cord.
First thing to do is look carefully in the owners manual. A good mechanic [or owner] will write the code in either the main manual or the manual for the radio. If there is no code available, go to any Lexus dealer's parts department. Be SURE to bring your auto registration with you [to prove you own the car] The parts guy will be able to look up your radio code using the VIN [vehicle identification number] listed on your registration. Usually, there is no charge for that. Your owners manual will spell out the procedure for entering the security code [usually 4 or 5 numbers] to get the radio working again. Charlie
There are two main areas to look at, one is signal strength. Many units have a threshold that is will allow stations to be selected. if the signal is weak, the tuner will not stop there.
The other common issue is Genra selection. If you have selected Rock, and the station that you want has listed something else, that will stop tuner from stopping on that station.
I do not know where you live but wher i am are a chain of outlet stores called princess auto and they sell a small blue box of radio removal tools which work on almost every car on the market it is only around 10 bucks for the set and I would think you could purchase same at some auto parts stores if in US the chain icannot reember similar to PA is Harbor something or other cannot remember but it sells almost same stuff you can try one of them I will ask my friend the name he goes there whenever he goes south You can contact me at [email protected] and I will get you the name ...good luck in the meantime
I looked and the only thing I could come up with is to e-mail JBL and order a new one. Radio shack, Best Buy, or Futurehsop might be able to help but you have to call them with the model number or go to the store and check it out. Here's the link to JBL if you want to order a new one.
