Ever since i upgraded my Dlink Dir-655 router to the latest firmware (at that time, FW: 1.35EU), when i'm trying to access a webpage that isn't available, AKA http code 404, or whneever my internet connection is down, my router shows me a custom 404 page stating that the page isn't available or my internet connection might be down. This wouldn't be all that big of a problem if it would do it properly and send me the 404 header along with the custom error page. I was wondering if there is a way to disable this custom error page on the router somehow and let the browser handle things the proper way as it should in the first place?
Um, no offense, but did you even read my message before posting that reply? I'm not having connection issues. There is nothing wrong with the wifi, or with the router's connection to the internet.
My problem is that, when I try to go to a URL that does not exist, e.g. http://no.such.url, instead of seeing a 'Could not find the sever specified' page, I get redirected to http://dlinkrouter/error-404.htm.
I'm confident that this issue is cause by the router, not by the ISP, since it is redirecting to a page served by the router itself.

U have to tell me whether u have to unplug machines or the router
If that's the case dhcp for ur router is assigned from some other place. Weird. U have to enable dhcp of ur router. Don't allow running another dhcp from ur local systems only if it is a must. WHEN U CONFIGURE THE ROUTER'S DHCP, MAKE SURE TO SET THE LEASE TO A MAXIMUM VALUE SO THAT IT WANT CHANGE THE IP ADDRESSES FOR MACHINES.
If u assign static ips u have assign the dns and also the default gateway
Type ipconfig /all in a comand prompt and check the settings and set appropriately
Remember, don't allow any other source to assign dhcp for the router.
If this solution works for U please rate the answer
Thanks
Best of Luck

The Position of the router need to relocated and placed such that it has minimum shields to the devices. It may not be providing enough signal strength to break through the obstacles on its way. I will suggest you place it high. This way the device will have minimal obstacles to the router.
