Kenmore 106.70233900 I noted items in freezer were not frozen well. Every time the frig would go to shut off it would go through this "clicking" on & off process for about 2 minutes. I unplugged it thinking maybe ice had formed...I plugged in back in 4 hrs later......has not shut off yet and small amount of water in plastic container in freezer cold but not frozen....any ideas??

SOURCE: FRIGIDAIRE FRS20ZRGD7 (SIDE BY SIDE) WARM FRIDGE/ COLD FREEZER HELP!

look open the freezer door pull the lower kick plate off look for a small little hole there its a mechanical timer model should be close to the wheel in that hole will be a plastic piece open the freezer door you will hear the fan running in the freezer take out the four or five screws on the lower panel where you keep seeing the frost and remove it you will see a silver honeycomb looking piece that's the evaporator on one of the tubes will be clipped a silver dome looking piece with two wires on it that's the defrost thermostat now turn the timer with a screwdriver that's the piece in the little hole slowly to your right till you hear a click and the fan stops in the freezer now as your turning it it will make a ratchet sound you want the click and the fan to stop look at your watch and note the time then wait about 5 minutes and look at the heater to see if its on if its all frosted up the frosted should look all watery if the heater is on then just let it run if not then reach up and turn the freezer control to the off position then un plug the two wires on the defrost thermostat and take the two wires that you unplugged the thermostat from and plug them back together and turn the freezer control back on and wait stay there and watch the heater come on let it defrost the evaporator if the heater comes on when you do that .that means the thermostat is bad if the heater comes on without you having to by pass it that means the timer is bad if you do all that and the heater does not come on then the heater element is bad now its going to get red like an oven and pop and sizzle but don't let it freak you out now if you had to by pass the thermostat and the timer cuts the compressor on before the frost is all clear just turn the timer around again till the fan cuts off and the heater will come back on if you by passed the thermostat then when all the frost is melted then reach up and turn the freezer control back off and reconnect the thermostat. Now after about 30 mins after turning it off the timer should cut back on if its not bad when you change the timer back out the two screws reach under the fridge and turn the timer and its shield till the screws are in the removal position when the timer is loose remove the shield and unplug the timer plug your new one back in then put the shield back on and back where it goes now id recommend changing both the timer and the thermostat as they fail pretty close together the stuff i described above is to make the unit defrost to save your food with out having to use your hair dryer also when all the frost is melted at he bottom of the evaporator on the right hand side is a hole in the cabinet that has to be clear of frost for the fridge to cool properly now any time during this defrost technique if you have a problem turning off the freezer cold control will turn off the defrost system1.gif too if i can be of help or you need to know something just reply to this post

Your defrost drain hole is frozen closed.
Remove the back freezer panel and defrost the ice with a hair dryer.
Once the drain is clear poura 1/4 cup bleach in the drain hole.

SOURCE: Kenmore elite - Water dripping from freezer to refrigerator

Your refrigerator has a defrost drain blockage behind the evaporator in your your freezer compartment. Some models like yours have leak in the turns as the water leaves the freezer. I recommend that you unplug and remove the cover to the evaporator and check the defrost condensate tray below the evaporator. A wet vacuum cleaner and poring a solution with clorox in the drain will help you clean locate the leak and where the blockage may be downline.. I do have the manual on yours and can help you solve this. Some times this is a factory defect and I can help you solve the freezing drain problem. Let me know, Sea Breeze

SOURCE: Freezer cold- Fridge not. Ice build up on freezer

I really believe your adaptive defrost located inside the fresh food compartment and inside the control panel is defective. It puts your refrigerator on a timely defrost and if defective this problem you listed in your post happens. Yes we may need to also check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat but with my experience with that type of Adaptive Defrost Control is famous for its failure.
ADAPTIVE DEFROST CONTROL Part Number 61005988 You can find it located on two of my websites. Some models like yours came with a Defrost Timer. We will need just look inside the control panel and see for sure. Here is a photo of the Adaptive defrost. If you should need to contact me please send an email or try to answer here. Problem is I don't get notifications when someone comments. [email protected]
Please rate and ask me as much as you like. Thank You, Sea Breeze

Your refrig display , has lost communication , with the main control board , located , behind the refrig , behind an 8 " X 10 " panel . The control board , is easily replaceable , with 7 or 8 plugs , attached to it . The part number , for your board , is WR55X10942 . It runs about $150.00 .

Water leaking drain hose frozen have dual controls for refrigerator and freezer can I shut down freezer portion to thaw drain hose

Often you can shut it down by turning the thermostat all the way up untill it clicks over. This, however shuts down all cooling. If need be, unplug the frig, empty the freezer, and get your hair dryer out. I have done it this way dozens of times. Be patient.

My kenmore refrig (freezer on top) has started dripping from tube near temp control inside of frig. I think it might be related that one month ago - electric was off since not at apt for one month. Doors...

Your defroster inside the fridge may not be doing a good enough job to keep the drain from freezing up. Check to see if the drain pan is frozen over in the freezer section. I took the cover off the inside of the freezer and wrapped a piece of uninsulated 14 gauge solid copper wire around the heating element and pushed one end down the inside of the drain tube and wrapped the other end around the heating element. No problems since.

Hi, I have model # MTB1950GRW top mount freezer and it's not keeping items frozen. I've turned up the temp control, made sure the vents aren't blocked. Also the frig itself isn't as cold as it should be. ...

Either your coils underneath are dirty ,if they are underneath you will have a fan blowing if is not you need a new condensor fan. You should also hear a fan blowing in the freezer if not its your evaporator fan. If your coils are frozen up in the freezer behind the access panel then your defrost thermostat and defrost heater is bad. Whenever you fix it make sure you put the settings back to factrory settings.

Will not dispense ice or water, beeps when lever is pushed, no interior light in frig part. both frig and freezer work, freezer light works

Your inlet tube that goes to the icemaker may be frozen. To Check: Shut off water supply to Fridge, disconnect the water line that goes to the icemaker at top back. Use a flexible item to insert in the water line connection. I used a zip tie. If the flexible item won't all the through to the ice maker, the line is frozen. Thaw out the tube from inside the freezer with a hair dryer. Re-connect everything, you now have ice . . . Solution #2: You may have to replace your "Water Inlet Valve" located at bottom right rear of Fridge. Easy to do, just follow the color codes, be sure and shut off the water.

I have a JCD 2289 AE side by side. The freezer has water at the bottom rear that has frozen. How do I turn off the freezer and not the refigerator to defrost it and what could the cause be for the water

Just unplug the frig and open the freezer and let it defrost. Put the frozen items in the frig to keep them cold. Keep the frig closed if possible. You can assist the defrosting by blowing a window fan into the freezer. The room temp will defrost it quickly, or set a blow dryer on LOW and direct toward ice. Careful don't take the chance and turn that dryer on heat. And DO NOT CHIP ICE with a sharp object (patience is free). You may need to physically remove the water as the ice melts. - The source of the ice is probably condensation, or if it happens very quickly, there may be a ice maker leak. Once defrosted replace the frozen items and watch for cause of ice.

I have a Kenmore coldspot side by side- not cooling properly

Setting it to 5 is what the manufacturer recommends. If you set it to 1 and the frig is still not cold, then you probably have a faulty cold control (thermostat)

Water leaking from the frig and ice build up inside of frig

Your defrost is not working. First find the defrost timer, make sure it is working. Mark the little dial and wait a half hour or so to see if it moves. If you do have to replace the timer, you may still have to do a manual defrost, the ice in the freezer can take a long time to melt out. If your freezer does not come apart easy, you can turn the timer to the defrost spot(it will click and the compressor will stop) a few times until no more water comes out of the freezer drain tube to the drain pan. You will then feel good air flow out of the freezer fan. If the freezer drain is frozen up, which happens on my fridge it will take all day for it to thaw. That's why I have to take my freezer all apart, a real pain.
