Janome Memor Craft 10001 bobbin tension

The bobbin tension is too loose and I can't fix it by changing the needle tension. Any ideas? Thanks so much.

Hi,

There is an adjustment on the side of the black bobbin case.

Remove the needle plate, to gain access to the case. Lift it out, noting how it is positioned! On the side of it , there are two screws, one is the adjustment screw - its the one that sits out more. To increase tension, turn it clockwise 1/8th of a turn, reassemble and test sew. (make sure the top thread tension is back to where it should be). Repeat if required. DO NOT adjust too much at a time!

Good luck

Janome 6500 Sewing Machine. CORRECT TENSION ON 6500 JANOME SEW MACHINE please.

Question edited for clarity.
Please don't type in all CAPS, it is considered SHOUTING and is harder to read.

Sewing machine tension is a delicate tug of war between the bottom Bobbin tension and the Upper tension to put the loop between the 2 layers of fabric. You set the Bobbin tension first and the the top tension depends on the fabric and the thread used.

Your Bobbin tension is very very loose to be not tensioning at all or the top tension is too loose.

I have a janome memory craft 350E, when I embroider it is pulling the bobbin thread through to the right side, I have changed the tension but it is still doing it. Can you help please

I suspect the bobbin thread has escaped its tension spring. If you give the bobbin thread a quick short tug and the bobbin spool spins then likely the thread is not behind the tension spring. This usually causes hook jam but not always.

First be sure you have threaded per machine instructions... see below.

Next turn handwheel and position needle at the high point of stroke (always when loading bobbin). Remove and re-insert bobbin. Now, to be sure the bobbin thread is fully positioned behind the tension spring, before you move the bobbin thread into the notch, place your right index finger on top of the bobbin spool to prevent the bobbin spool from turning. Hold thread snugly (in slight tension) as you move it towards the back of the notch. You should feel the thread slide in place behind the spring. Let loose the spool and lightly pull thread. Note the resulting change in tension. (don't forget to set top thread tension back to a more normal setting)

Adjust thread and bobbin tension

These are the instructions in the manual:
Adjusting the Thread Tension
Balanced thread tension:
Small amount of the needle thread shows on the wrong side of the fabric.
When the needle thread tension is too tight:
The bobbin thread shows on the right side of the fabric. Reduce the tension by turning the tension dial to a lower number.
When the needle tension is too loose:
The needle thread forms loops and the stitches look shaggy.
Increase the tension by turning the dial to a higher number.

However, if you have recently changed the needle check that it is pushed right up in the slot. Other thing that springs to mind is making sure that the bobbin thread is correctly placed in the bobbin, and that the chamber is not full of lint and threads.

I am having trouble with applique on a memory craft janome 4800.

Upper thread breaks
needle may be in backwards
Raise the needle bar to the highest point, then loosen the clamp screw to remove the old needle, place the new needle in the clamp with the flat side to the back of the machine
Push the needle all the way up to the stop or as far as it will go, then tighten the needle clamp screw
upper tension may be to tight
the needle may be bent or damaged
thread may be hanging up in bobbin case--check area for loose threads or lint
check for burrs on the needle plate & on the bobbin case

Sir I am owning a Janome Memory Craft 10001 but recently it's not working properly in ordinary sewing mode the top side of the fabric the stitch looks okay but underneath it is loose and while embroidering...

Usually If the underneath is loose it is the top tension that is the problem. If it is the top stitching that is loose it is the bottom tension. Hope this helps.

Janome Memory Craft 10001

Are you checking the simple things such as making sure you have the presser foot up when you thread and the tensions set between 4 and 6, bobbin in the correct way round and tension enough to pull the thread through with some resistence.

Janome Memory Craft 9500 Troubleshooting

Have you tried a new needle?

If re-threading, changing the brand of thread, etc. does not work, then it's likely your machine is out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

Loose stitches every 1

test it out on 2 pieces of material by rotating the wheele by hand. pay close attention to the 1" area. when you turn it by hand you can feel the area of question. is your bobbin spooled correctly. if all fails read the directions.
