Charging light is blinking

I have a Vtech 1920c and the power light is on and the charging light is blinking. The phone is now dead. I am assuming that the battery is gone and needs to be replaced. Please advise. Thanks.

Yes, your assumption is likely correct. A rechargeable battery thats life is up, will still show its charging indefinitely. However, I've also seen the same scenario with bad recharging base, even in high dollar units. I would recommend replacing the battery first, because that would be the least expensive option, and most likely to fix it.

Also, you can return the battery if that doesn't work.

If its the base, its probably cheaper to just buy a phone, unless you just happen to have a local place that does repairs on electronics, and they can do it cheaply. Likely, they'll tell you that its not cost effective to do a repair though.

Hope its just the battery.

Why does innotab charging light blink when charging and will not charge?

the charge imdicator is suppose to blink when you plug the toy to the wall adaptor. if it doesnt blink then there's something wrong with either the adaptor, the adaptor port on the toy or the rechargeable power packs. now i said that the light is suppose to blink. but the frequency of the blinks shouldnt be fast. if that's the case clean the compartments and re-insert the batteries. if you are still having problems try the ff T/S:

1)remove the power packs, plug the toy to adaptor and turn it on. if it turns on that means your adaptor is working.
2)remove the adaptor and try using just the power packs.
3)try using 4aa batteries.

if the toy turns on with only one of the power sources stated above you better call vtech hotline.

Red light indicating fone charging has not shut off for around 20 hours.

My Vtech 6.0 charging light only turns off when I remove a handset from the charger base. I have had these three set for two years and they work fine. I think that the red light is just to let you know that the charger is working, if you loose power, or unplug one of the base units there is no indication of a dead battery.

Is the red light on the charger suppose to stay on or blinking for the battery to charge?

It is supposed to stay on. If it is blinking then your battery has gone completely dead. You can force the charger to charge the battery by applying a voltage (AA battery w/ wires worked for me) across the charging terminals while inserting the battery. You'll have to take the charger apart for this.

Vtech phones loosing connection to base

You are pretty close to the solution. The problem is the charge detection in the handset. All handsets on a cordless phone detect the battery level with an hexadecimal value in the memory. Each hex value equal a volt value of the battery. EX: 3.5v = 9B
3.6v = 9C 3.7v =9D etc... The problem is the hex value in your defective handset are all mess up. So 9B is not 3.5v anymore. Then your handset could last 1hr after foul charge or doesn't alert you before the phone goes dead due to low BAtt.
