Hi, I have a kicker sx900.2 amp on 2 kicker CVR15 speakers. The speakers and everything is brand new and the amp is used. I installed everything myself and it sounds great, but after 5-10 minutes, it overheats... = ( The fan is on and I feel a cool breeze so I don't know what the problem could be other than it gets 100+ degrees here. I can only imagine how hot it is in my trunk. The amp has a digital screen that shows, temperature, volts, etc. You also have to use the screen and buttons to adjust the amp (there are no buttons). I do not have an instruction manual so I have just been playing around with it. I came across an option that shows you the temperature and lets you change the temperature you would like the amp to go into overheating mode. I have not changed this temperature or anything else that I don't know about. What is a normal temperature to set as the overheat temperature, what is normal operating temperature, and what is the temperature that would fry an amp???
I have a kicker sx900.2 and after about 10-15 minutes it overheats. i bought the amp used and the overheat temp was set at 156 degrees. i got two 12" L5's on it. i set my gain and everthing down, i turned my bass and loud off on my headunit and it still heats up. i got 0 guage wire and a 2.0 capacitor on it also. is there a specific reason to why it is overheating?
Well with amp amp the cooler it runs the better.... As far at a specific temp... i dont like to see over 110 degrees but ive seen some amps run pretty hot (like hot enough to cook an egg on before finally going into thermal protect mode) what is the "overheat" temperature now? As far as other options you could run your subs in series instead of bridged paralell which will make the ohm load higher which in turn will let your amp work "less hard" the other thing you could try is turning the gain down so you dont run the amp as hard... Another option would be to go to radioshack-get a 12 volt computer fan or two.. set them up in a way that they blow air into the vents of this thing to help it run cooler... I also mod amps with fans internally and if your in the chicago area i would love to help you out..
Sorry your problem is the soft you moust go to the service center
You need to find line out of your radio to line in of your kicker amp. connect them using audio shielded cables. connect your speakers to the amp. I guess you this already.
