Not Able to monitor recording

When trying to record audio using effects I hear only the dry sound. I hear the effects on playback, but I cannot monitor them during recording. Is it a setting within the program or is it an issue with the computer settings?

Can I run my Kenwood-ke205 equalizer, witch is AV while using digital optical as my input sound source on my vr-507?

Here is the receiver manual
https://manual.kenwood.com/files/B60-5027-00.pdf

The problem you have is, you cannot insert an Analog external signal modifier into a Digital audio chain (Optical or S/PDIF).
Your receiver does not have an Equalizer send/receive loop.
The only way you could do this, is to take the Tape Record Out to the Equalizer's input, then the EQ output to the Tape Playback In. Then to hear the effect of the EQ, you would have to switch the receiver to Tape monitor.

When I record with my m-audio mobile pre USB, there is no latency issues with recording but there is a delay in the headphones if I turn them up to hear myself while recording. How do I fix this? I'm using...

Have a read at this article. I assume you are using ASIO4ALL if not then you should.

http://www.image-line.com/support/FLHelp/html/recording_audio_USBmic.htm

Specifically this part:

Note about latency: USB microphones generally only allow you to hear the sound being recorded after it has passed through FL Studio. As the latency of USB microphones depends on the ASIO4ALL latency settings, there may be a troublesome delay between the sound made and it being reproduced from your speakers or headphones. For example, low latency monitoring is particularly important to vocalists as high latencies cause a distracting echo effect. The only solution to this problem is to lower your buffer length settings (there are limits) or obtain a new soundcard with direct-monitoring.

Friends say When i speak sounds like Static any 1 know how to change setting or find it in computer. Im using Satellite Fusion

The external microphone itself could be the culprit, or its connection to the 3.5mm port could be flaky. To test the theory do this:

1 Connect an external microphone to the computer.

2 Click Start, point to All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, then click Sound Recorder.

3 Click the Record button and speak normally into the microphone.

>>>> WIGGLE THE CONNECTION AT THE LAPTOP OR FLEX THE MIC CABLE WHILE RECORDING. Maybe even narrate what you are doing while you record your voice. "Flexing cable near mic, now near plug..." <<<<

NOTE: You can only record 60 seconds at a time.

4 When you have finished recording, click the Stop button.

5 To hear what you just recorded, click the Play button.
6 To save the file, select Save from the File menu.

>>>> If you hear crackling in the playback that correlates with your handling of the cable then bad seating or a bad cable are the problem. <<<<

Adjusting recording quality

The better the quality of the recording, the more disk space the sound file requires. Experiment to find a balance that fits your needs.

1 Open Sound Recorder, if necessary (click Start, point to All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, then click Sound Recorder).

2 In the Sound Recorder window, click Edit, then click Audio Properties.

3 In the Audio Properties window, adjust the Sound Playback quality and volume, and the Sound Recording volume.

4 Click OK.

Your new settings take effect the next time you record.

Marantz CDR-510: Playback is good , recording is distorted

If this brand of media is new to you and the symptom is unique to it, I'd try a different brand.

Monitoring during record would never reveal media problems as there is no immediate playback after record as on old-school 3-head tape recorders.

I've had similar intermittent problems and I never could find a pattern to it except that it always seemed to be on low-end media. My best advice would be to try to find a pattern in your instance and make a change that avoids it. Then publish what you learned for us.

Good luck.

I cant hear playback as im recording, can you tell me why?

newer laptops and pcs use an HD audio chip. sigmatel or realtek or IDT usually. their configuration is held in the registry. some functions may not be configured to even display.

1st step is go to control panel and select the sound icon/option.
that will open a tab view for you sound card configuration, looks different in vista vs xp.

under XP you want to select the recording options to view and make sure which input is recording.
then you want to select the playback view to see which items may be muted or available for playback. You will be looking for input or mic depending on what you are using.

under vista there are a recording and playback tabs.

under vista you can right click on the area of a tab and select the option to display disabled devices, which you can then enable. depending on the sound card driver, the playback device can be selected and a new set of tabs can display monitor tab and/or volume controls with perhaps a check box for record monitor.

you can double click a device (i.e. playback device) to see it's properties and it will display a set of tabs that may include an Input monitor tab or a Enable Record Monitor Checkbox.

if not then it means the driver was not configured to support the function. this is usually a registry entry binary value named like EnableRecMonitor set to 01. The registry is tricky so if you don't have the back ground, look for a newer driver that may have the option enabled for your sound card...

DP02- turning on an effect but not recording effect on track

You MIGHT try turning on the effect right after hitting record. It is possible that the record cancels the effects... I don't know if this is possible, but if it is, try it.

I can kind of see a technical reason they might do this.

No sound in playback (but can hear click track)

This might seem simple, but just to check: you have switched off the monitor on the track when you go to playback? With track monitor engaged, you will not hear playback, but will continue to hear the live monitor.
