Printing from different trays

I have the HP Officejet Pro K850. I use Autocad most of the time to print drawings on A3 size paper, which I have loaded in the input tray on the printer. Occasionally I need to print letters on A4 size paper. So instead of swapping the paper in the input tray I just pop some A4 paper into the front manual feed tray. My problem is that I cannot seem to force the printer to print from the front manual tray. I have to remove the A3 paper from the input tray first, which defeats the object. I have checked my user guide and troubleshooting, but can't seem to find a solution. Am I being thick?! Can anyone advise? Thank you.

This can normaly be solved by going into the printer preferences and then setting the trays manualy in the software. otherwise the printer will automaticaly select the main tray first then move onto the mp tray. sorry if it sounds a bit vague but these options change from printer to printer and have not seen a k850 for a while Hope thyis helps Cops [email protected]

The color cartridges have all been replaced in the HP Officejet Pro K850 now all the pages are printing blank?

Try re-seating the ink cartridges and printing a test page. Those were new HP cartridges, right? Not some garbage from a ink cartridge refiller off ebay?

I'm trying to print out at A3 size, mainly AutoCAD drawings but the A3 size paper doesn't appear in paper size options ???

I know this doesn't help with the settings of the software for the printer but...It might help you trouble shoot.
on this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_size
The A3 size is : 297mm X 420mm or 11.69in X 16.54
Tabloid is: 279mm X 432mm or 11in X 17in

Looking at the manual here http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00756121.pdf
I see A3
297 x 420 mm
(11.7 x 16.5 inches)
A3+
330 x 483 mm
(13 x 19 inches)
are supported.
Have you updated to the newest drivers and software from? (need to select your OS)

How do I get all borders to print I am loosing the left side despite changing margins

Hello,

Its very easy to get the everything print out.

Click Print, you will see option "Print Set up".

Another window will open, in that you will see different options.

Select "Fit to Media" option, click Apply and Click Print

You will get all your borders in printout page.

Paper in tray but message says paper tray empty

HP officejets are notorious for problems with paper feeding...

Try the solutions (ignoring the ones about tray #2) from this solution... They're all the same sort of printer feed mechanism.

... also something I noted with the K850 (the earlier model to the K8600).. some papers are less likely to be picked up than others.

I had to get some cheap A3 paper for that unit which worked better than Xerox branded, higher quality photocopier stuff. Sounds strange but if it works...

Hope that lot helps.

HP Officejet Pro K850 printing problem

Soon after I posted the problem on this site, I went to different margin setting windows and they all appeared correct. I tried another test page and noticed the printer was off. I turned it back on and it worked perfectly. I had previously unplugged the power and cable and rebooted the system several times to no avail. I also have an HP Officejet 7410 All-In-One so I didn't need the other for everyday operations, just preferred it.
