SOURCE: how to transport aol favorites to gmail
I presume that you mean contacts export from AOL, to Gmail, correct?
I am not on AOL any longer, so I cannot find out if they have an export function.
Gmail, however does have an IMPORT function.
Log in to your gmail account.
>>Top right, several to the left select settings
>> 2nd tab, accounts and imports..
What you need is the first option...
Also are you planning to use the online mailbox of Gmail, or a local client, like Outlook, Windows Mail, or Incredimail>>>>? If so you must turn on POP access, or you will not be able to connect... This is the 5th tab of the page you were last on (listed above, in settings).
Lastly if you are using a local client, often you cannot use the GMAIL outgoing mail server. Because of spam, internet service providers commonly require all mail going out to go through THEIR server....
Not a problem, if you use inline mailbox of gmail. because you are sending from there....

look for toolbars
click on toolbars and another menu drops out
There you can see all the toolbars the PC knows about and if there's a tick against it - then it should be displayed - if not tick - then click on it and a tick should appear and the toolbar should also appear
