"Call of Duty" runs in slow motion on my PC.

The game requirements are OS-Vista/XP, processor-AMD64 3200+/Pen 4 3.0 GHz or better, free memory 1 GB RAM Vista and video card 256 MB NVIDIA Geforce 6600GT/ATI Radeon 1600XT or better. I have a Geforce 6150. Should I upgrade the video card or try to find another PC with a better card? Thing is how do I know what is a better card?

I have already upgraded the RAM to 4 GB, adding to more sticks. You are saying the higher series number the higher the onboard memory
of that card, ie, 9800 GTX?

Geforce 6150 might be a onboard video device. Who is the manufacturer of the compuer? and what operating system do you use, vista or xp?

  • Mike Matkovic May 11, 2010

Well, what is in your system besides the 6150 ? What's you processor speed and system memory ? What OS are you running ? To check your specs, just click START then CONTROL PANEL, then SYSTEM icon.

Hi thomas,

Upgrading video cards will definitely increase in performance. You asked whether you should upgrade your entire PC or just the card and that really depends on the hardware you are running. If all of your hardware just barely meets the requirements than upgrading the videocard WILL give you a noticeable improvement but obviously it will not be as good as getting a better CPU and more RAM as well as a new card.

A good measure of a cards performance is based on the series of cards it is from. Your Geforce is from the 6000 series of Nvidia cards, they have 7000, 8000, and even 9000 series cards atm.

I would recommend something like an XFX Geforce 9800 GTX+ series card with 512MB of onboard memory, or any other competing card in the 200$ price range. This will definitely give you an increase in performance, and is a very popular card.

Hope this helps and please take a second to rate!

The Nvidia GeForce 6150 is Integrated Graphics. Also known as 'On-Board'.
Integrated Graphics 'borrows' some of the computers system resources. The processor and ram memory.

Your computer needs all of these system resources to run the Operating System, and also a program like an intensive graphics game.

Solution? Install a dedicated graphics card. A graphics card has it's own processor. GPU
(Graphics Processing Unit, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPU)
It also has it's own ram memory. Graphics ram memory.

This frees up the computers system resources.
Recommendation? Install a graphics card. Get away from the Integrated Graphics.
You need to know what expansion slot your motherboard has for a graphics card. There is the PCI expansion slot, the AGP expansion slot, and the PCI Express x16 expansion slot, that is used for a graphics card. Hopefully yours is a PCI Express x16 slot.

The PCI Express x1 slot, is NOT used for a graphics card. Just thought I would mention that.

I concour, that using an Nvidia GeForce graphics card in the 9 Series, is a good idea. It's a 'Best Bang for the Buck' type of graphics card, at the moment. Perhaps the GeForce 9800GT, or the GeForce 9800GTX?
Make SURE, your power supply has enough wattage, and enough Amp's on the 12 volt power rail, to support it.

Seems like your graphic card is not supported. Its a older version. My first solution would be update your driver for your graphics card: http://driver.wareseeker.com/download/visiontek-radeon-9250-agp-8.072.rar/1e97d07a01 or http://www.soft32.com/Download/Free/VISIONTEK_RADEON_9250_AGP/4-172246-1.html

If that doesn't fix it (which I don't think it will), you might just have to buy yourself a better graphics card and/or computer.

Call of Duty runs in slow motion follow-up

Your system is more than enough. But your video card might not be
or it has problems. Onboard video is very poor to begin with.
Which ever you have, make sure you have the newest drivers for your
graphics. Have you installed any of the patches for the game?
if not you might want to look at them after your sure you have the newest drivers and this only happens with this game.

Call of duty 4 is only asking for Pentium 4.
