TRENDnet TEW-432BRP router cannot obtain IP through DHCP

I have a problem with the simplest configuration: - - ------ -----> ----------> {ISP} On the LAN side the Router provides PC with IP address correctly (192.168.10.101) : ping 192.168.10.1 from PC to the router works fine as well as router configuration process... BUT !!! on the WAN side the router is set to get IP automatically through the provider's DHCP server - AND THIS DOESN"T WORK !!! Being connected straightly to the Cable Modem (without using the Router), the PC' LAN Ethernet Card gets IP address instantly. Anybody knows/heard/guesses the reason?

clarification: my ISP is cable TV provider in Israel. Now, very important detail is that another Router ( I tested Netgear) obtains IP address with no problem at all (of course ISP is the same)

Thank you, "jsbasrao", for your concern.
Of course I double checked the router's WAN configuration before I posted the problem and I must confirm that everything seems correct. I could show here the appropriate configuration screens, however I assure that the router is set for automatic IP acquiring.
I still hope that somebody has faced such problem with this specific router model.
    Thanks a lot

It seems that ur PC & cable modem configuration is ok, now the problem is with ur router WAN interface configuration. the problem would be one out of 2 - first to check whether ur router wan interface is configured properly to obtain IP address from DHCP (if possible, u can give the static ip address with same series as cable modem) second to check with ur ISP.

  • Anonymous Mar 20, 2009

Then its mean that ur router WAN interface is not getting IP address automatically, u can check ur router configuration & do as per first solution in my previous msg.

    Might be useful for u:

SOURCE: how can I set up a speed stream 4100 modem/router

HI! I bliv u are having some issue setting up ur router.. I will be more than glad to assist u. here are the steps u need to do:
1. press the reset button on the back of the trendnet router for 20sec..while pressing the reset button, unplug the power plug and after 2secs while pressing the reset button plug it back in and press for 30secs after that unplug the router for 15secs then plug it back in..once all the lights are solid and ok
2. connect the ethernet cable to port1 of the trendnet router and the other end to the lan port of your computer..
3. pull up ur browser then type at the url:192.168.1.1.or 192.168.0.1 or u can check the routers default gateway by right clicking the network icon on the lower right of your task bar and click on status and it will show the ip address of the computer, subnetmask and default gateway, the default gateway is the routers ip address, once u type in to the url, it will ask u the username and password, by default the username is admin and the password is 1234 or just leave it blank
4. it will show the setup page of the router. u can set the router on the specific internet setup that u have.
a. if ur isp is a cable company, normaly u need to do a mac clone on the router setup page by cloning the computer that is reg to the cable company, how to determine it. ex. the computer that is reg to the cable company is a desktop or laptop, if this computer is connected to the modem directly and u can access internet.
b. once u determined it u need to connect this computer directly to the router and do a mac clone and set ur internet settings to auto-dhcp..then save the settings and after that, unplug to the power of the modem and router, plug in 1st the power of the modem then once all lights lit, plug in the router, then once all lights lit, try to pull up a browser that ur computer is connected directly to the router.. ur cable connection shud be, cable from the modem will go to the WAN port of the router and connect ethernet cable on port1 going to the lan port of the computer..once u can access the internet, u can now access again the setup page of the router by typing at the url:192.168.1.1 and u can setup the wireless settings, u need to create a ssid or wireless name and a security..
5. If ur isp is a dsl normaly they give u a username and password to connect to the internet, ur settings on the router should be PPPoe. Im sure if the computer is connected to the speed stream 4100 modem router you can have an internet access. just in case u did a pppoe settings on the trendnet router and ur done setting the router, u did the connection, then u dont have an internet, set the speedstream modem router to bridge mode
6. If ur isp gives u a static ip address settings, u need to set the router to isp setup.
a. how to check the isp of the isp given to u..
1. click on start
2. run
3. type cmd
4. it will show a dos prompt
5. from the dos prompt type ipconfig/all
6. it will list the ip address, subnet, default gateway, dns server
this settings should be type in to the settings on the router for static ip addressing..

if you have any querry pls feel free to get in touch.. good luck

When I enter http://192.168.10.1 for the log in page for Trendnet, it does not come up. I cannot get to the initial log in page for Trendnet.

you are possibly not using the correct information to log into the router.
***************************************************************************
Please verify your hardware and TCP/IP settings again by following the instructions in sections 2-3, make sure the Power, Wan, WLAN,and the LAN lights on the AP/Router's front panel are on, and verify that TCP/IP configuration is correct. Then, try accessing 192.168.1.1 again using the web browser.

I have a trendnet wireless router tew 432brp, a new hp windows 7 laptop, and old xp laptop and i want to share the connection with my verizon um175 aircard. this has worked for several years with the old...

The router connects computers together . You are using a windows 7 p.c and connecting it to an internet connection via a usb verizon um175 aircard.
I think you need to share the internet connection with the rest of the network and may need to feed the ethernet cable into the feed port of the router. I have not done this before but logically the windows 7 computer would have to act as a gateway to the internet.

http://www.dummies.com/computers/operating-systems/windows-7/how-to-share-an-internet-connection-in-windows-7/

https://www.ibvpn.com/billing/knowledgebase/53/Internet-Connection-Sharing-on-Windows-7.html

Note the default gateway is going to have to be the windows 7 ip address on the other computers
You may need to set the ip address on windows 7 to a static address and then change the dhcp server settings default gateway and also increase the first address to not include the windows 7 ip address or the routers ip address in the lease range for shcp.

Connecting two routers to extend network

Router A is connected to the modem. Setup router B to run as access point only. assign an un-used IP address to router B. Turn off the DHCP server on router B. connect a LAN port of router B with a LAN port of router A .do not use the Internet port of router B. do not configure WAN settings in router B. both routers must have the same wireless settings except for the wireless channel which should be different. Set the same SSID and the same wireless security settings on both routers. Good Luck

Same Problem. Port frowarding not working. Very confusing.

Virtual Server Name can be anything specified by you. Protocol if not sure TCP/UDP, it is better to select "*" which means both. Both public and private port has to be camera's port. Like in your case it is 50001. LAN server is the local IP address of the Camera given by your router's DHCP or a Static Private IP address f0541ce.jpg

Problem using Wa1003A and Tew 432 brp to share my internet

lan wires are the same. lan wires used to connect your computer to your modem can also be used to connect your Wa1003A adsl router and TEW 432 brp.

you just got some things mixed up.

1. you should set your Wa1003A adsl router to bridge mode. At this point, it will just be "pass through" device and will not be the one who will ask for IP adds from your ISP.

2. configure your TEW 432 brp with your pppoe username and password. Your TEW 432 brp will now ask the network for the IP address to that it can connect to your ISP.

3. leave your lan wires the same.

How to solve it???

your trendnet is just a router and it should work with any ISP whether if it's cable or dsl. you just need to connect it to the broadband modem provided by your ISP and configure with the correct settings.
with cable conncetion you just simply connect the ethernet(LAN) port of the modem to the internet(WAN) port of the router. then perform a power cycle by turning all the devices off. after that, turn on the modem first and wait for the lights to lit up before powering on the router and the computers. if this will not work you need to access the router's page and perform a mac address clone.
for dsl connection, you need to get the username and password of your internet account from your ISP then set your router to PPPoE or PPPoA.
you need to also check that your modem and your router has different ip addresses to make them connect to each other properly.

hope this'll help you but if you still have the same problem, just give me the exact model of your modem and who is your ISP

ciao!
