I dropped the remote and it no longer works with the TV. I wanted to try again to set it up, but I completely forgot how to do it. Its an old remote and an old magnavox rear projection so I can't figure it out, but it they did work together for awhile. Its a RCR412S, which is not listed. Please help.
For the RCA RCR412S you might find that it doesn function like the
manual says it should be functioning. In my case the Direct Entry
method didn't work with my Sharp TV or my Panasonic VCR. I then had to
figure out how the Automatic Search method worked because the manual
was incorrect. Here is how to program the RCR412S using the Automatic
Search method:
1) Turn on the component you want to control (TV, VCR, DVD)
2) Press and hold BOTH the component button on the remote and the On-Off button
3) The On-Off button remains lit. Now press Play (The On-Off button will blink)
4)
If, after five seconds, the component does not respond, continue to
press the PLAY button every five seconds until the component turns off.
5)
When the component turns off, press and release the REVERSE button,
then wait two seconds to see if the component turns on again.
6) To save the new code, when the illuminated ON-OFF button turns off, press and release the STOP button.
You can download the manual here:
RCR412S Manual
You should only have to press the STOP button for a moment, then release it.
Try removing the batteries overnight. Then re-insert them and try again.
The drop may have damaged some of the innards, so be prepared to accept the worst.

Everything goes smoothly until I get to the sixth step. How long do I hold the stop button for? I tried twice, once for one second, and the other holding it until the light goes out. Any suggestions?
YES! I finally got it to work. Thank you so much.
