Recording to DVD will not play full screen

I have a Sony RDR-VX535 DVD recorder and when I record a TV show it does not play back in full screen eventhough the show was in full screen on the TV. The TV is a Toshiba 56". The DVD recorder is hooked into the line out of the HD DVR Cable Box.

When I push on the zoom to get it out of widescreen it does magnify, but this little box to the right stays on saying X2 or X4 and plays the scene tiny. How do I get rid of the stupid little box?

My Sony RDR-GX300 DVD Recorder is suddenly only recording the 1st 15 seconds from the DVR. The entire show is on the DVR. I have tried discs that I've used before successfully & new DVD's.

1) pass the Disk cleaner buy to some radio schack, and test it
2) test the cable in another device, and determine if faulty or not.
3) if not clean the terminal from DVD VS TV with c.cleaner
4) otherwise the Syscom inside and another associates circuit is faulty such like record ampl.
go to the repair shop for fix it.
God bless you

HOW DO YOU BURN A DVD ON A SONY DVD RECORDER RDR

Make sure your Sony input signal is on L1 or L3 (the inputs in back of recorder) or on L2 which is for inputs for cameras(located in front).Once you get a signal, you're where you need to be. Choose your recording mode for recording speed (pull down the flap on the remote control for this button and also the input button).
Choose from between1 hour and six hours. To archive really important stuff, stick with the first 3 speeds. TV recording can be on 3, 4 or 6 hour mode.
Push the record/pause button once. This will put the recorder into the record/pause mode and then it awaits you pushing it again to start recording immediately. Just pushing record will force the machine into a 3 to five second delay before actually recording anything so you might mess up and miss the first few seconds of your input. Suggest you use a dvr-rw or dvd+rw to practice on.

When your recording is done, just push the pause again. It stops recording but allows you to add more on to the first recording without starting a new chapter if you want. Just continue to release the pause button to continue.
If you are satisfied that you are finished, then push the pause button to stop recording. Wait for the info to be written(flashing message on screen). When it stops, you may play the dvd.
Notice- since the dvd has not been FINALIZED, you may only play it back on this unit without finalizing. It will not play on other dvd players unless you finalize it first.
To finalize, look on remote for the TOOL button. Press it once. Now push DISC INFO once. Use arrow keys and enter button on remote for the following. Scroll down to FINALIZE and press enter.
Use arrow keys to scroll to OK. push the ENTER button. Finalizing should take between 30 seconds and 2 minutes.

Warning- if titles or chapters are to typed in, it must be done BEFORE finalizing. Finalizing afterwards cannot be done.
Erasing can be done in part or all if using an RW+ or RW- disc

I have Sony RDR-VX535 and suddenly every time I press the remote it reads DVD 3 and does not perform any of the functions that I requested.

Your DVD recorder is set on DVD-3 remote option, check DVD Recorder remote lower section for DVD Mode button that has 3 options, set it on DVD-3 and recorder will start responding on your commands of remote.

Can't watch show while recording

It doesn't do. No can do.Whatever channel you SWITCH ON TO AFTER you started recording be it timer or manual GETS recorded. Whether you switch onto inputs on your TV remote or cable remote IS the one getting recorded.

After recording the DVD player, wont play on any other player

I have seen this on other players as well. What happens is the media your recording on is either too slow for the player and the player is recording faster than the media is supposed to handle. For some reason it works on the machine it was recorded on but nothing else.

Solution: Get media that matches the speed of the player.

If this is not the solution let me know I will get you one.
